NVA - Nationale Volksarmee der DDR (People´s Army of the GDR)
After the second World war both Germanies need an army to protect their lands and to solve duties for their brothers in arms (NATO and Warsaw Pact). Both armies had to fall back on soldiers of the Wehrmacht and SS.
The NVA was founded 1956 as realisation of a people´s chamber´s resolution in 1952. The NVA was built as an volunteers army and about 30% were former Wehrmacht- or SS-soldiers.
