This map shows where we all are in relation to each other. Feel free to use it if you wish. If security is an issue simply set your marker in the general area were you reside. To use it drop Bootie (me) an email or Private message as you require authorisation to edit the map.

Ask Bootie, I , or another member that you know is already on the map to 'collaborate' it with you. You need to give one of us your email and we can send the link. Then follow the instructs below to map yourself. I thought this would be a good tool for everyone here at the forums.

Make sure you have a 'google' account or an existing hotmail account. You will need one to access the map. They are free.

shoot me a message with your email and I will send you a link to get on the map.

1. Click on the link that the collaborator 'an existing member' has emailed to you.
2. Sign in to google using the link in the upper right hand corner.
3. Click on the EDIT button in the upper left part of the page.
4. Type your town name or area int the google search box at the top of the page.
5. Click on the upside down tear-drop looking thingy and click on a spot on the map where you are located.
6. This will default to a 'title box' where you should put your FGM handle that everyone knows.
7. Go ahead and enter whatever you want in the description. Games played online or maybe times that you are available.
8. If you want you can click on the upside down tear-drop icon in the upper right hand corner of the title/description box to choose another icon.
9. Click on the 'add an icon' link to use a custom one. You will have to enter a 'URL' target from photobucket or somewhere like that to use it.
10. Click OK.
11. Click Save.
12. Click Save to My Places to bookmark this map.
13. Click Done.
14. Click Collaborate to share this map with fellow gamers by putting in their email address and sending them the link.

Lengthy but hopefully thorough enough for everyone. Once we get this thing populated it will be a good tool to help finding people in your area for get toghethers on or off line.

That little blue balloon aonly appears after you pushed the "save" button (which I didn't see earlier). Then you get the option to save to the FGM map.

I managed to add my location (if you got streetview you can even see the little Smart of our offcie parked near my house!) But without the stripes...

Here is the thread that was originally started. I posted up a lengthy but thorough list of instructions. Not sure why the thread was not referenced in this new thread by Bootie? Anyway, you don't have to use the us chevron that I created. I did that cause that is my rank on FGM. I used the bitmap from the CMBN game and added a pointed bottom. You can create your own in this way and save it to photobucket or something. You can then choose a custom made icon to represent yo' self.

I can put custom icons on the map for anyone that wants them. The one we are using now I swiped from CMBN itself.

The criteria are:

Size must be 64x64 or smaller
It must be a .jpg, .bmp, .gif, or .png

They do not host the pic so I will put it on my photobucket site.
If you have it on your own site, all you need to do is give me the url address.

Also, if anyone wants additional information added let me know. It is possible to put in pics of you or your house or whatever by what I described above. I can also embed 'you tube' videos. Let me know the relevant information and I will give it a shot.
