View Full Version : Factory Defunct?
DO you guys think we should shut this area down and transfer the posts to the general chat forum. It has lain dormant since September?

Alternately leave it up but change the title to 'FGM Mods Cabinet'
Then sticky a thread called 'Mod downloads' and stock it with a small selection of the very highest quality mods for download.
The rest of the section can be for general mod discussions etc
I think it should be left as is. I intend to do some more mods once I work-out what the hell is going on with the mods now that I am using a LCD instead of my old faithful CRT monitor. There will also be an increase in mods for CM:N if it gains popularity.
Now, back to nvidia control panel sttings . . .
I suppose I could also advertise the mods Ive uploaded to the download section. Ok the factory remains but I may change the wording of the title as per POS recommendation.
Ive uploaded a couple of nice BB winter mods to the downloads section.

I'm just too busy with CM:N and real life to post anything because I haven't done any CMBB or CMAK modding for a while (safe a few minor things I could show), but I also think once CM:N is out, there'll be enough mods to have this section become really active.
Changing the title is okay, since nobody seems to be interested in modding anymre - and most people around here don't seem to use ANY mods anyway judging form all the action shots...

The only mods I use are a few terrain mods. I did try using AFV mods a long time ago but they looked bad as if they were covered with sparkling pixels, so I went back to the standard CM ones and have used them ever since, I'm not a mod nut..:)
I did try using AFV mods a long time ago but they looked bad as if they were covered with sparkling pixels . . . This is what I have found to be the most prevalent, graphical annoyance since I recently changed from using a CRT monitor to a LCD one for CM.
I am really missing the high resolution of 1600x1200 on the 19"CRT monitor. A heavy use of anti-alias and anisotropic only helps so much . . .

Have to admit that I've not tried CM on a TFT screen yet - still going with my trusty old 19" CRT. Will have a look when I get the chance to check how a modded CM compares TFT - CRT.

I got the sparkling pixels on my old 19" CRT monitor, i haven't tried any mods on my TFT yet.
I might try some, but it's a hassle having to sort through the hundreds of mods out there to find the best.
That's why i think FGM should select the very best for us and put them up for download..;)
Well, I am definitely finding the TFT LCD not as good as the CRT. From what I have read, a 20.1" 4:3 LCD with a "native" resolution of 1600x1200 should be the best bet for CM. The problem is that this resolution is rare and the ones available are expensive.
I think choosing the "best" mod to use is not the main problem, as there really are only a few mods, if that, available for each CMBB/AK unit. The problem is knowing what mods there are for each particular unit. I suggest lists of grouped CMBB/AK units (e.g. CMBB German armour) with each unit having its own sub-list of available mods (e.g. PzII - mod list). This structure could be the basis for the download section. Just a thought :peace:

Good idea. Suggest it to the board administrator and offer your help in selecting and uploading - I'm currently too busy to help, unfortuantely.
Yeah splitting it all up like that will take some work....
Not sure if that is the best way forward.
Let me think about it as I have a lot on my plate just now as I have 2 tournies to sort out for the next turn... the ladder to post up daily and also my ongoing work on the forum.
In time it will be in place. :)
No rush, just thinking aloud :pound:
Ive split the mods section up slightly... BB and AK both have sections now for terrain, infantry, armour and misc.
