So you guys see I haven't stopped modding CMx1 with all the CMx2 work on my hands:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/DAK_Ranks.jpg
- CMAK DAK unit protraits (part of a complete set of unit portraits for all German forces)

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/fj_wstentarn.jpg
- CMAK FJ desert camouflage

I know, these aren't that shiny, but small things have to be done, too. Expect other (more shiny) things in the future!

Hey Earl, where can i find some of your SF mods?

Earl of Grey
04-20-2010, 22:31
I only ever did mod the T-72 (so far) - and those mods are at The CM Mods Warehouse. I suppose, though, that I'll do a few mods once NATO is out.

Earl of Grey
04-21-2010, 13:35
Africa mods on hold because not that important at the moment - instead I'm revisiting my JgdPzIV:
http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/jgdpzIV_zimmerit_new.jpg

I wasn't really satisfied with how the Zimmerit coating turned out so I'm redoing it (in the hopes that some other modders might find it worth their attention).
In addition some minor changes to the running gear (new drive sprocket and road wheels). What do you think?

Looks pretty good. Now how about a nice Ambush cammo pattern on it ;)

Can do - first I'll have to finish it, though! Anything from my color profile thread that springs to mind?

Welcome back Seydlitz. :)

Earl of Grey
06-10-2010, 18:43
Since Bootie clamored for it, here it is:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/fj_wstentarn_wip_2.jpg

Still not completely done, but nearing the end. Question: Do you prefer binoculars or can you do without them?

Bootie
06-10-2010, 22:52
Looks good... we can do without them .:) Thanks.

Not as far advanced as I'd like, but we're gettign there:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/jgdpzIV_wip.jpg

What do you guys think? I'm quite satisfied with how the pattern turns out but if you think there is room for improvement, please tell me. After all I'm doing this for you - I would have chosen a different pattern personally. :)

Great looking Zimmerit...and I realy like that ambush pattern, but I think the brown should have a more reddish hue to it like this Panther:

Can easily be done, no problem. I was just trying out a different shade than I usually use.

by the way, two little surprises in the line for AFTER the Jagpanzer:

07-17-2010, 08:38
DANG, I'm going to have to start keeping track of this forum!!! I LOVE that hunterAG!! The ONLY thing I would workon is the top. Why not give it camo ontop. The clear top distracts my eye. You change that and this is going into my collection!

It's still a W.I.P. (that's why it's in this thread in the first place!) and certainly not finished yet. Just wanted to show what the camoulage will look like once finished and get some feedback...

What are your exact plans with that green Panther, Earl? Even like this it looks stunning.

Earl of Grey
07-17-2010, 23:31
Some of you certainly remember this mod:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/cmmods-previews.greenasjade.net/CMBB/EG_PANTHERG_LATE.zip_original.jpg?1245056281

The green Panther is the promsied update of it. The real one rather looked like this:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Color%20Profiles/Panthers/panther_21.jpg

And this is what's gonna happen with the green Panther. The old one will be replaced and vanish into the ether.

My dear Earl, you are an artist. I mean it. I love that green striped Panther. Gorgeous.

I have only been a bit lazy today:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/jgdpzIV_wip2.jpg

Not quite satisfied with teh front upper hull but due to the texture setup there can't be much else done. I also hope the brown's better now.

Gentlemen, here's another preview - CMBB unit portraits:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/CMBB_heer_ranks.jpg

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/CMBB_ss_ranks.jpg

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/CMBB_lw_ranks.jpg

Would you rather have me release it in single packages (early war, mid war, late war restricted to the different forces) or in one big complete package? The choice is yours!

Padre19
08-04-2010, 22:00
Very , very nice........

Earl of Grey
08-06-2010, 10:22
Still leaves the question: One big package or single ones? I haven#t released this yet because I'm not sure how to best release, so I'd appreciate feedback.

Aragorn2010
08-07-2010, 08:39
Excellent work, Earl. One big package for me please.

Earl of Grey
08-07-2010, 09:13
Excellent work, Earl. One big package for me please.

Sure. If no one else has an opinion, I'll release a complete package soon (I actually prefer that variant anyway). Stay tuned!

Earl of Grey
08-07-2010, 10:38
Here's another quick one:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/CMBB_soviet_ranks.jpg

These are Soviet unit portraits, very much the same as the German ones (I had a talk with Johnsy a few weeks ago while doing German unit portraits) and just tried to implement some ideas and make the Soviets look good, too.
Top row is the early variant (before 1943) and all other branches would look the same except the piping and the branch insignia. I took some artistic liberties and educated guesses witht these but I'm quite satisfied with the end result. What do you think?

Aragorn2010
08-07-2010, 11:41
I think they look smashing. Great job!

Earl of Grey
08-09-2010, 08:17
Of course it'll be a separate package. But only two separate packages and not more. I'll wrap up the release then...

Earl of Grey
10-07-2010, 12:35
Time for a little news!

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/tiger501_camofinal.jpg

Not much missing now, mostly the tool stowage. Won't get finished this week but probabaly next.

Earl of Grey
10-12-2010, 00:14
Glad at least someone likes it! Not sure when it'll be finished the tool stowage hasn't been done yet and will likely be the most complicated part of the mod because of teh peculiar setup sPzAbt501 Tigers sported in Africa.

AirborneBob
10-12-2010, 01:47
the air filters look good..great mod!

Earl of Grey
10-18-2010, 13:20

Earl of Grey
10-18-2010, 15:17
Two wrong answers so far. Sorry guys! :tongue1:

Sempai
10-18-2010, 15:50
I can guess three times, right? :) And because it have to be a StuGIIIG because the hullīs form and the MG on top - but havenīt a Saublende - I suppose itīs a StuGIIIG (middle). What makes me a little confused is there are no smoke dischargers to see. So my guess is

1. - Youīre correcting a mod - on the base of the discharger problem.
2. - Zimmerit and MG are made so a new camouflage for italian scenario - because there is another terrain under the Stug as under the Tiger before.
3. - You have to create a tool storage for the StuG.
4. - Because Iīm such a fine guesser You give me a bonus chance, right? So the fourth is - it becomes a modder version where other members or modders can create their own camouflage.

Greetings :)

Earl of Grey
10-18-2010, 16:28
Not bad, Sempai, not bad. It indeed is a StuG IIIG (mid). The mid-late to be precise. Anyway, regarding your answers:

1) Not quite - I'm doing this on the base of MikeyD's mod, but I'm essentially replacing everything he redid in his mods (MikeyD's StuG mods use a lot of the original textures). Either way the variant I want to portray didn't have an smoke dischargers so I deleted them.
2) Nope, not Italy.
3) Tools are missing and I'll probably add some, yes. But that's not what the mod is about.
4) I'll release this one as a modder's version once it's done, but that isn't what I'm aiming for.

So, although you were quite good you haven't guessed it exactly. Any more guesses?

Sempai
10-18-2010, 22:02
OK, because there is no information if You already did something on the StuG or not Iīm only shooting into the blue. So let us see...

1. - You try to create a mod which shows the right form of the superstructure (hope itīs the right translation) of the SiG33B. Itīs almost the same as the StuG but had a much higher hull form and no dischargers. :)
2. - You make the SU-76i right. It was the using of captured StuGs for the building of an own soviet Sturmgechütz.
3. - StuH42 (had the same chassis but other superstructure) or StuG IV (had another chassis but the same upper hull/superstructure).
4. - Youīll make something with the MG on top. I canīt see right what kind of MG is mounted. So if itīs a 34 You change it to 42 or the other way around. Or Youīll show the right optic for the remote controlled MG on top???

Greetings :)

Earl of Grey
10-18-2010, 22:49
No, all that can't be done - I'm just editing textures.

Okay, I'll give you a few hints. What I've done so far is:
- adding completely new running gear
- deleting the smoke dischargers
- applying the historically correct Zimmerit pattern to a mid-late StuG IIIG (the StuH had a completely different pattern)
- YES, it's for CMBB

Actually this was just for fun - you'd have to be EXTREMELY lucky to guess what the final mod will actually be.

AirborneBob
10-18-2010, 23:23
Its going to be a Good Humor Ice Cream truck!!

Cool car, Bob. Very pretty. May one it using for real traffic and so on? I suppose in Germany it wouldnīt. Would be not save enough. :(

Sempai
10-19-2010, 01:32
Last try. Then I give up.

A - Camouflage like that one Your Panther and Jagdpanther shows.
B - Because You make all these things correct as possible You try to "de"mirror the numbers on the sides of the turret and so on. Without a few units all show mirrored numbers on the "left" side.

So, thatīs all. If that isnīt correct I have no lust anymore. :)

Bye

Earl of Grey
10-19-2010, 09:43
Okay, I let that one count. :thumb: It's part of the "GD" project I'm working on with Aragorn. I already released a Panther A (late) and an SdKfz251 with "GD" markings and camouflage and this will be the next vehicle in the line.

Do you want to request a mod?

Sempai
10-19-2010, 12:19
Does it matter if for CMAK or CMBB?

Earl of Grey
10-19-2010, 12:23
Nope, not really.

Sempai
10-19-2010, 13:36
OK, I would prefer if the Hellcat, the Chaffee or the Churchill-family would be made (CMAK). From the vehicles should it be PSW 221 - 223 (CMAK and CMBB). If You would chose from that units I would be glad.

Greetings :)

Earl of Grey
10-19-2010, 19:35
Somehow I'm not surpirsed you mention the Churchill. And know what? Already on my "to do" list. :tongue1:

And there already is a SdKfz221 mod (also provided in yellow):
http://s3.amazonaws.com/cmmods-previews.greenasjade.net/CMBB/Czt222.370.zip_original.jpg?1245026666

But I guess the Churchill it is...

Aragorn2010
10-19-2010, 20:28
I second the Churchill!

Sempai
10-19-2010, 22:53
Fine! So there are no problems further. :) And sorry - I didnīt know You did the PSW already before! Is there a camouflage variety too? And if the Churchill is on Your list already - I would be glad You make the Hellcat sometime. Itīs the most lazy made mod for me. It needs an total overhaul. But that all is only suggestion - a plea/request - of me. And I hope I find some time in the near future to start as a modder too - with Your help.

Greetings and thanks, mate!

Earl of Grey
10-19-2010, 23:08
No, that PSw mod isn't mine, but you can find it at the Mods Warehouse if you search for "221". A camouflage variant hasn't been done yet to my knowledge - but that's a good point to start your modding career. Applying camouflage patterns to a finished mod is the easiest mod to do.

And the Hellcat is on the list now as well. Sooner or later I'll get to it.

AirborneBob
10-20-2010, 00:49
What....No Ice Cream Truck!!!

Thank You, Earl! Will start an attempt in the next time. :)

Earl of Grey

Since BJ posted he couldn't do a good pattern on his first try, I thought I'd step in so your 50mm AT guns don't have to go naked:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/pak38.jpg

Pattern is based on the stock BMPs. What do you guys think? Good enough to be uploaded?

12-16-2010, 12:09
Me too, please! :)

By public acclaim I'll upload this ASAP for general use. Just wanted to know what you guys think of it first!

Aragorn2010
12-18-2010, 10:29
So the first present under the christmas tree has been found. Very good, Earl.

Earl of Grey
05-03-2011, 12:56
So... Now that I finally got more time for modding (again), a quick question: Does anyone still need a Churchill mod with all those recent releases bby Stciaram? I'd rather not waste my time on something no one will use...

Earl of Grey
07-11-2011, 16:14
More of a "proof of concept" and still heavily WIP in in nature, I'm now proving that CMx1 can, with the right textures, still look stunning:

http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Screenshots/pzivh_wip01.jpg

What do you gentlemen think?

Bootie
07-11-2011, 16:28
Zimmerit looks good... I agree the tank models will look good but the scenery still sucks now compared to CMBN.

Earl of Grey
07-11-2011, 16:33
True. But to be honest the trees, hedges and bocage could be better (other games use the same system and achieve much better results). But I'm one of those guys who won't part with CMx1 for a long time to come...

Bootie
07-11-2011, 16:58
I dunno Im starting to gravitate towards CMBN... hell I keep using the mouse button to try and scroll in CMAK.. anyone else done that yet. :)

Aragorn2010
07-13-2011, 19:50
Looks good, Earl. Love that Zimmerit.
