The front 3 boats each carry a 12-man Brit engineer squad, and the rear boat carries the platoon HQ.
I've also thrown in a PIAT, LMG, Flamethrower and HMG on board..

Boats move at about walking pace on water. Just for fun I set each boats movement point far inland to see what happens. (Note the only move order available for boats is 'Move', not 'Fast' or anything else)

Ha ha ha, the boats move happily over land, but at slower than walking pace (the crews must be abstractedly carrying them), note it took them 5 turns to get this far, that's why we'd never move boats overland in a real game unless we need them later to cross more water somewhere else on the map..

This is the right way to do it, first set each boats movement to the shoreline so the cursor readout says 'land' instead of 'water'..
Then give all the passengers a 'Fast' move far inland (or 'Advance', 'Contact' or 'Sneak' if you like) and start the turn.

And they're well inland at the end of turn 1 except for the platoon HQ who's boat had further to go and hasn't reached the shore yet. Also lagging behind are the slow LMG and flamethrower who can't run as fast as the rest. The Piat guy is well up among the centre squad.

Next test- But if there's an enemy reception committee they'll have their boats shot out from under them without a chance as here, because units in boats can't fire back because they're 'passenger' class units.. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g64/PoorOldSpike/sub3/35fa19fc.gif
