Since I have been asked, here it is - a proper graphical step-by-step guide on how to install mods.
1) This is how your CMAK folder looks like:

2) Next you need to locate your BMP folder:

3) This is how your BMP folder should look from the inside:

- ATTENTION: There should only be .BMP files in this folder - every other format won't be recognized by the game! Note the filename structure - just numbers, no words!
4) Now you download a mod of your choice (I took Daffy's whitewashed M4A1 Sherman 76mm (HVSS) mod this time):
http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Misc/cmak_mod.jpg
- What you see now is a list of .BMP files and, in this case, a number of options for some parts of the texture.
4) Now you might want one of the alternative .BMP files (red) for the texture part 66960 (yellow). What you have to do no is to choose on of the alternative files (for example ALT_66960_A) and rename them to 66960. Delete the others, you won't need them!
5) After you did that with all the other files (and deleted any .JPGs and the readme), your mod folder should look like this:
http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww164/earlofgrey/Misc/cmak_done.jpg
6) Now all you have to do is move all the .BMPs into your BMP folder and you have installed your first mod!
If you should have any questions, feel free to ask. HAPPY MODDING!
