Ah, The Hand of Fate is at work again! :)
Spike, how do you do all those nice arrows? Painted by hand?

Yah I use the standard Windows Paint program
I reckon luck is a huge part of this game. In my case, usually bad luck:)
The randomness and luck factor is why I really love this game (when I'm not beating my head on the desk in frustration...LOL)

Yes, it can be very frustating to have planned and implemented the perfect ambush with a 3:1 numerical advantage and surprise and superior positioning at your side to see how your tanks all miss or shots just bounce off when they shoudn't and losing all your equipment in the process..
On the other hand, when it is you who is driving into the ambush but winning the gunfght it is oh so great !!
I remember mirror games against Rico when I was beaten totally in both games I was playing awfully and had bad luck and it is worst combination :)
well I think I like to minimise luck factor but sometimes it just not working :)
I remember back in the SSI v. SSG days the passionate discussions over the two completely different order methods. SSI was traditional and your troops always did what you ordered. SSG, not so much. They would occasionally fail to carry out orders (although in a moer random fashion than CM). I was strongly on the SSI side noting it was a "game" and need not be frustratingly "realistic" to be a good game. And now? A large part of CM's charm arises from the little playmobile guys deciding your orders are ridiculous in the face of the enemy and take actions into their own hands for self-preservation. Go figure.

It has been argued over and over, though, that there either is some real 'fate' (either good or bad) at work in the game (meaning: some things just don't work like my Veteran Panther missing a Hellcat 3x in a row at about 350m and the Regular Hellcat killing the Panther with its first shot) or that BFC deliberately programmed some kind of 'luck generator' (e.g. a random chance of shots with rather small chances of actual success) into the game to keep things interesting. Either way that is something that we all know and has happened to as all - good and bad. But I actually like that feature, because in real life not everything goes exactly the way you planned it and it - depending of working out good or bad - provides for new tactical options.
