Okay in my CM:AK game I have Spotter 150mm, has clear los to target which is a tall hill, so Arty fires! and wiff hits like 500 yards up and left.....wth right....so try it again...same thing...so now I wasted 2 150mm spreads....now he does have smoke up currently on the last attempt, but still why would it fall so off? Its not Wide shot , just straight up target....
Experience level? Or weather situation like strong wind?

Is he being suppressed by enemy fire? It doesn't matter if a spotter has LOS or not if they aren't able to look at the target because they're busy trying not to get shot.

No suppression, he had blue bar line of sight, the only issue I can see is he popped smoke, once prior to the firing of the rounds, and he was on top of the tallest hill, but i had LOS both times up and to the left, the third time with low ammo it hit at the end but by then the attack was just a graze....

Treeburst155 made a long post about targeting artillery FO's a while back on the Battlefront forum. One of the things I remember is that the FO need to have LOS to the target when the targeting round is fired. Only then the rounds will (make a chance to) fall on the targeted area. And if the rounds miss a quick retargeting won't do th etrick. You have to cancel the target and try again next turn.
And POS have posted a lot of useful posts in the tactisc section about, among others, artillery.

Thanks guys.....getting better one post at a time!
If you are way off try to re-target at another point very close to the original (a green line), this will cause a 30-40 second delay so if you are still off for one reason or another, you do not waste a bunch more HE.

..and wiff hits like 500 yards up and left...
Send me a few of the game files and password and we'll soon solve it.

Well i did read the BF forums and it says if the HQ does not spot or have LOS then it can cause:
From the Battlefront forum it was noted that if the spotters LOS to the target was ever blocked (SMOKE or a building crumbling and kicking up high debris, or sand in the desert) the shells typically land off target. If you think that your LOS has been blocked you may want to consider re-starting the targeting “clock” with a new target, especially if you are trying to hit a pretty small target and shells landing elsewhere are essentially wasted.
