Really?
Is good ... Pacino and De Niro is a guarantee of it .-
As I saw it the first time I was astonished how good it was. As I saw it the second time it was good but not so as I had in my memories.

One of my all time favorites. The shootout scene is probably the best one ever put on film (realistic gun handling! you NEVER see that on TV or in movies). The characters are fantastic, actors are great, storyline is compelling. Really a great, great movie. DeNiro and Pacino are unforgettable in their roles, but the supporting characters are also great. Danny Trejo is very good in his role (no machetes though, sorry!) and a young Natalie Portman follows up her excellent performance in Leon. Hell, even Val Kilmer is good in this.

Yep, great movie. I kept shifting between the good and the bad guys who I wanted to win.

Funny thing about this movie is that Pacino and DeNiro never share the screen. Even in the restaurant scene only one actor's face is on screen and all you can see of the other is a portion of the back of his head.

Not true. They share the screen several times. When Pacino's character pulls over DiNero's, in the restaurant, and in the airfield at the end.

That scene of the conversation they have in the restaurant is great .- Two heavyweights such as De Niro and Pacino could carry out .-

A quick check of IMDB confirms this:
"Many viewers claim that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino never (or hardly ever) actually share screen time during the film, despite the hype surrounding the films release as showcasing their first screen appearance. In most Pan and Scan versions of the film, and TV broadcasts, it does appear that during the "diner scene" the two never actually share the screen, but viewing the film in correct letterbox format, as the director intended, clearly shows the two actors sitting at the table, though only in wide shots."
And this:
"The first film to ever feature both Robert De Niro and Al Pacino acting together, which created much hype prior to release. They both starred in The Godfather: Part II (1974) but never shared the screen together as split chronology prevented this. When this movie was finally released, even its advertising material promoted the film as a De Niro/Pacino "showdown." "
I do believe in the airport scene and when DeNiro gets pulled over, while both characters are technically "in the scene", only one is actually seen onscreen at a time.
