Ok guys.... rushing out the models I have too build so I can clear up my model space in time for turning the spare room into a nursery. First on the list is 1/35 British Infantry on patrol to be built onto a diorama from Mini Art.

I started of with the diorama base. I painted the cobbles first, let it dry then applied glue on the parts I wish to have dirt/vegetation. I poured sand over the whole diorama and then shook it of. I then placed the small white/cream stones with glue.

I like the effect so far....

Ok while I was cutting my first Brit from the sprue sanding him down and gluing parts together I went back to the wall section. I wanted the outside plaster to have a base colour of cream. I made a wash up of desert yellow and white and applied this to the plasterwork. Looks fine as a base layer.. now the bricks... are we thinking red brick or grey brick... whaddya reckon?

I like the effect with the grey cobblestones, looking good. I would go for red bricks.

Red bricks it is.

I have put the undercoat of white on the other side of the wall and also undercoated my first Brit. he's lying in pieces in front of me. The good thing about working with acrylics is they dry so quick.

Ok.... while they are drying I go back to the base of the diroama. I want to have the effect that a battle has recently taken place in the area and want a dead German to be lying ont he ground.

From my little box of extras I had the painted legs of a fallshirmjaeger so I craft a rough trunk out of blue tac and glued it to the base. I then cut an appropriate size of gauze and and used poly cement to lay it over the cadaver.

The gauze was then painted a base brown.

Im still waiting for the white multi use adhesive to dry... (it dries see through) so you so you wont actually see it but this is the placement of the body with the legs and an arm poking out. First time Ive ever attempted this but Im happy enough with the effect. Once it dries I can give the tarpaulin over the body another coat and add some other little bits like touching up his boots.

Bloody good work there! Love the painting on the cobblestones, and the body under the tarp; very imaginative.

Red bricks for me...will add a nice dash of colour.

Good work -- looks like he's oozing white stuff -- like the android crew member in the Aliens movies :RpS_wink:

Ok few hours later white stuff has disappeared and Ive added a bit of gore by mixing red and black and water and letting it soak into the tarpaulin and slide over the cobbels.

Ive got the bricky chalky background on the bricks of the wall... tomorrow need to pick out the bricks with a small brush. I was originally gonna paint the wall edgings grey but Im feeling a wood brown would look better so that will change.

Im happy enough with todays work... I didnt get as much done as I hoped but good to be back in the modelling saddle again.

Just a question...seeing the guy was dead by the time he was covered with the cloth...his heart would of stopped and this would cause the blood to stop flowing.

That poor guy was covered alive...what kind of medics did that army have?:RpS_crying:

Maybe he bled out and then was only just covered with the cloth. The cloth soaked up the blood on his body and the ground causing the staining. It's like an episode of CSI ;)

Thanks guys... its temporarily on hold for a day or two as Im working some vicious shifts again. I will do a little here and there when I have time but the little bits I do probably wont qualify for a pic update.

Work has resumed albeit at a slower pace as Im now onto the 1/35 Brit Infantry.

A couple of figures with their base coats on and placed temporarily on the diorama.

Ok a wee bit overkill on the picture front here but Ive changed this diorama about... gone is the lackadaisical Brit and in is the gung ho Yanks. I think it adds a better urgency to the diorama.

Again Im still a beginner with these things but had great fun with this one tonight. I popped into town and picked up some Tamiya US Western Front GI's. Not particularly good models but they do the job.

Anyway I popped them in and played with some photo editing filters and such like and the following pics are where we are at present.

And a completely untouched one to finish with.

Still work to do on the diorama but here we are just now.. I still have a few more GI's I can put in but will it be overkill with too many figures in the one scene.
