Welcome to The Few Good Men

Thanks for visiting our club and having a look around, there is a lot to see. Why not consider becoming a member?

Who was and where is the player known as "Graves Registration"?

Remember back in the CM1 days there was a chat server running (totally forget the name) for CM players to join and challenge each other. Well this guy "Graves Registration" was pretty much always on there 24/7 and was a helluva player. Think I played him like 3 times, once in a tourney where he crushed me soundly. Then a second time, getting crushed once again. Then the third time where it was one of those games where everything just goes your way. I crushed him and thought well... I better just not play him anymore and leave on a good note hehe!

So back to my initial question... who was he and where is he now? Surely he's playing our now beloved CM2 games. My only guess was MadMatt who I think did all the sound stuff for BF back in the day.

Before my time (Lucky so-&-so:)) so no help at all; really just fancied plonking a post on the clubroom....just blathering really.

The comic humour side of me is battling visciously with the part of me that says "Now normal social conduct is to avoid the topic and you ARE trying to fit in........ WELL ARN'T YOU!" (Uh-Huh)

SO it's goodnight from us.

SO it's goodnight from us.

.... and a goodnight from him.

There is a member at theBlitz with that name. His last game was registered in 2007. If that is him I feels like he no longer playing.

Oh yeah forgot to check the Blitz. Ok yeah it probably was him but seems like he moved on. I thought maybe he's still around but with a different call sign. Its crazy, I still remember some battles from nearly 20 yrs ago now. o_O

That is always possible, perhaps you will hear from him. Yeah I've only been paying for 10ish but I suspect I'll be the same way. The friends that introduced me do.

I played GR 6 times back in the day. He won the first three games and I won the next three. He was a very good player. Surprisingly aggressive. I would take detailed notes on my games with him and found that he had certain patterns that I could exploit. But I have no idea where he is.

Walpurgis Nacht (I think he also went by the name of Faust) was another great player. I had the same experience vs him. Lost the first few and then won the next few. I exchanged emails with him for a short time and he was an orchestra conductor in Nebraska when we emailed many years ago.

Both guys taught me a lot. We used to play games all at the same time on CMHQ (the website that you were looking for).

The guy that I never got to play was Fionn Kelly. He finished his CM career right when I started mine. Some of his AARs are in this link:

His AARs are so arrogant and his tactics so unrealistic (almost always playing the Germans and attacking with hordes of King Tigers, elite infantry, heavy artillery). I wanted to kick his ass.

The last I heard, Fionn was a medical student. Probably a doctor now.

Thanks for the info Nemesis! Wow that website is a blast from the past, I remember it! Also recognize the names Walpurgis Nacht and of course Fion. I guess here we are closing in on the 20 year anniversary of when CMBO first launched in 2000 (19 yrs ago). Getting that nostalgia feeling going on! Such good times! ;)

Developed and published by Big Time Software.... haha I forgot about the name change.

I didn't play much H2H during the CM1 era, but I do remember Fionn on the BFC forums. Like you, I found him arrogant and extremely annoying. Too bad he isn't still playing CM, eh? I think he got banned from the BFC forums, but my memory of those bygone days is probably murky, at best.

Yes--he did get banned from multiple places. I am not sure for what.

The old days of CM were so fun. I loved playing H2H over the internet and completing games in 2 or 3 hours.

Speaking of the BF bans, anybody else remember Gaylord Focker?

No. Who was he?

I remember a guy named Jason C.. He spoke to everyone as if they were children and he was a Noble Prize winner.

Graves Registration was a top player on the old ladder website tournamenthouse.com. Mostly active during CMBO times (they didn't like CMBB and CMAK that much). TCP heavy, not much PBEM. But then, back in those days TCP would allow rewinding during turn watch.

skelly, too.

Wreck. I think he was the semi-permanent #1.

Those were the top 3 most of the time. Good times. Never could win against any of them.
