(what a way to suffer today:2draw:)

I would never have imagined reaching this stage after the embarrassment against the Arabs, but here we are, tomorrow it will be decided who is the rival for the world final.

Believe me, not even on independence day do you see as many people celebrating as during a World Cup.

Well when Italy won the tournament a number of years ago they were the ones that knocked us Aussie out in the round of 16 so maybe history will repeat itself. :p

Thank God it happened

Thank you for your words @Hedgehog @Ithikial @Otosan. The country really needed a joy like that. And only football can cheer us up, even if it's incredible. For us this sport is the same as rugby is for Australia, or baseball and basketball is for the USA.
The country literally came to a stand still at the start of the game. The shops closed an hour earlier just so people could watch it on TV at home.
Nothing was heard in the street, only goal shouts and the final celebrations.
A game that seemed accessible was complicated at the end when two goals were scored for us in two minutes and we tied in real time, to then put ourselves back in the lead and again France tied us in extra time. The luck of the penalties was for our side and we achieved the third star in World Cups.
Believe me that for a country that registers the second highest inflation in Latin America behind Venezuela, with a people divided politically speaking, problems of insecurity and unemployment, this achievement unites, at least for one day, the people in a single cause: the football .

And what can be said about Messi. Without him this achievement would not have been possible. And he knew that this was the only card he had left, his last World Cup. For a guy who had won everything (or almost) he was missing this, a world title. It was what put him one step below our other soccer star, Maradona. And he was finally able to do it today. I was lucky enough to see all three world titles (1978, 1986 and now this one). I'm happy.

Celebrations still at night in the center of Buenos Aires. Only football does it.

Congrats Louis !

Very happy that you and your fellow countrymen all get to enjoy & celebrate this captivating win. Enjoy the bragging rights that come with it for the next 4 years! (y)

Well done.

Cheers !

Undoubtedly guys, for those of us who like to watch soccer, what we are experiencing again is like being in heaven.

@Gunner @Bones26 @Otosan the next edition will have you close, it only remains to wait less than four years.

Allow me one last comment, just to show you how the temptation of dollars/euros can be more:
When we emerged champions in 1978, of the 22 players called up, 20 of them played here, one was a free player and only 1 played in Europe.
When we were crowned in 1986, of the 22 players called up, 15 played here and the remaining 7 in the foreign.
And on this occasion, of the 26 players called up, only one (yes, it's real, only one) does so in the country, the remaining 25 in the foreign (mainly Spain, England and Italy).

Ha ha!
That's true here in all sports.
In any of my home team there are few, if any, home town players.
Most if not all come from somewhere else.
Our hockey teams are made up mostly of players from other countries!

@Louis Congrats to Argentina! Well done! Now I better start saving my pennies so I can go to a game at Arrowhead in '26...

it's a 25-minute car ride to the Arrowhead parking lot for me...
