California Burning

From what I understand, when a submarine implodes, death is almost instantaneous. Or at least that's what they tell the families.

I'm inclined to believe it; explosive decompression, immediate asphyxiation, instantly unconscious. But I have to think that the final moments preceding such catastrophe are absolutely terrifying. Submariners are braver than most men realize.

@Hedgehog, I am fine Bro, I am hundreds of miles from the fire in Northern Cal. Sine I live only 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean my air quality is only slightly affected, and I am fine.
Info on my locaton;
Villa Grande, originally named Mesa Grande is an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, California, United States. Villa Grande is located on the Russian River 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southwest of Guerneville. Villa Grande has a post office (95486) which was established in 1921.

This thread sounds like it is becoming right wing/left wing argument.

No, I think this is a public safety versus wishful thinking thread. I enjoy the beauty of nature as well as the next guy but I think that NOT pursuing forest management in a state as heavily forested and with the dense underbrush that's found in California is a recipe for disaster, as we have seen. I think that extreme environmentalism is not practical and is incompatible with public safety. If my thread entry implied a right versus left bias, you missed my point. My point is that a government has a responsibility to protect the publics' welfare and sometimes you just have to curb someone's utopia just a little to make that happen. As for the complexities of forest management, I am sure there will never be a perfect solution and fires are going to happen, but to be handcuffed by environmental extremism is not the solution.
