Game of Thrones Season 8 Official Trailer

Holy crap! I should have upgraded my TV several years ago. $550 for a 58" 4K smart tv? Pretty sure I paid about $800 for my current 47" 1080p non-smart TV.

It even has an ethernet port for a wired connection, which I appreciate since I ran CAT-5 cable through the length of my attic and dropped a connection in my living room.

Only thing I will have to figure out is, when I'm using the TV as a streaming device, how to get the sound from the TV into Pioneer amp? I'm guessing it has an optical or HDMI out......

Back on subject, wife and I watched season eight, episode one today. Damn, it's good. Spoiler!! Jon Snow rides a dragon, and it's awesome!!

Shout out to @Badger73 ..... yep, since I was already an Amazon Prime member, I simply subscribed to HBO at $15 a month, and will probably drop it once GoT is over. Works like a charm, and I don't have to talk to anyone on the telephone.

As for the tech stuff, I decided that since I have a 4k TV, I would purchase a 4k Blu-Ray player, so I bought this: https://www.sony.com/electronics/blu-ray-disc-players/ubp-x700

It's just a consumer grade 4k Blu-Ray player, but Sony has name recognition, and it has all the apps I could ever want (at this point) including Amazon Prime video. So basically this is just a box that allows me to stream from most services while playing every physical disk format currently available. It also makes my "smart TV" features redundant, which is fine, since I've only been using my "TV" as a glorified monitor for years now.

Edit: One caveat. I had to buy new "high speed" HDMI cables, because of......technology. They aren't expensive, unless you are a sucker, but be aware that they might be necessary if you upgrade.

Sorry for turning this into a tech thread, but I went ahead and ordered a Samsung 58" 4K smart TV. It should be "smart" enough that I will not need my Blu-Ray player to do anything except play disks in the future.
58 inch that's not a telly that's a cinema :D:D…… Mines a 42 inch smart Panasonic

I completely disagree. Loved it. (y)

@Meat Grinder - I'm happy you enjoyed it. I cannot share your pleasure.

It was physically too difficult for me to see the action and follow the story lines. Horror films use darkness to increase audience tension. I don't have a 52" 4K brightness enhancing television screen. This episode over-darkened the action to the detriment of telling the story. I liked all the other GoT army fights like Battle of the Bastards, the Wildlings Battle on the Wall, and the Battle of Hardhome. Several of those were night fights. I could have enjoyed this episode much more if it were just shown at a higher brightness or shown as a dawn attack in swirling winter mists, especially after the exhausting tension of the troops standing-to all night. Shadows and darkness would have then enhanced the drama for me instead of masking everything most of the time.
