Can I mix Fallschirmjager with a few tanks? I'm sure I've seen a few youtube vids where this was the case but I cant recall if it was scenarios as I cant figure out how to do it in a Quick Battle.

But then again I might just be a moron in which case I'll take it on the chin.

(I'm playing CMFB)

Have you tried selecting "Mixed" forces? That should give you free choice to mix and match forces of various branches.

Yup, can only get Paratroopers if I select "Luftwaffe" as the Service but even if the Combat Force is set as "Mix" all the armor is greyed out.

I just tested this out, and you're right. The armour, infantry, and mech infantry fields are greyed out. I believe this is a bug, as there is a choice to go with airborne infantry only, or "mix". In case of a mix, it should open access to all kinds of forces.

If the Luftwaffe were intended to be forced to ONLY take airborne infantry, there shouldn't be a choice to go mixed in the first place.

The only Luftwaffe unit with integral actual tanks as opposed to Stugs or TD's would be the Hermann Goring Fallschirms-Panzer Division and it was in Italy 1943, hence the possible tank selection for Luftwaffe. After that, it served in the east. Not sure but maybe the Fallschirmsjager Divisions in the west didn't have any integral Stugs or TD's in the Oct 44 - Jan 45 timeframe.

If you want to mix units from different service branches, say Fallschirmsjagers and SS Panzer units, like Lanzerath Ridge, you have to make a scenario.

In CMBN - Lufftwaffe get access to King Tigers and Stugs pretty much - Also unarmoured Flak vechicles - but thats about it....

Its good fun though - German Paratroops are an awesome infantry force that you can back up with the KT and Stugs....

Some really good mixed arm formations

They're actually not more awesome than any other infantry in this game - it all depends on how you set their unit quality.

I think they are awesome - they are as flexible as the US squads in terms of how they break down into teams, have a higher proportion of SMGs, SemisAutos, Assault Rifles and MGs (usually at least 50% of each section) - lots of Hvy wpns - MGs, Panzer Shrecks, Mtrs, 75mm field guns, recoiless rifles, Platoons with Mtrs and Panzeshreks!!!! and the Luftwaffe Auflklarung Bn(probally butchered the spelling) has AT Guns, motorised infantry, KTs, Mortars, Flak Trucks - its great!!!! As I said they are an awesome infantry force with loads of options with the support wpns you can remove or keep in the organic formations....at platoon, coy anf Bn level - you get more options and flexibility with them than almost any other infantry force in the game I would say and none of that has anything to do with the soft settings.

Well if you fire up a QB. go to mech forces - youll find them in Auflklarung Bn (as a Pl in each motorized coy), or available as single vehicles under the same tag.

No idea if thats historically accurate but in the CM world you will find them their,,,,

Wow, you are quite right. I am no Nafziger when it comes to TO&E but I'm pretty sure it's an error. The Bn listed is a Panzer Aufklarung Bn, which only the two Hermann Goring Divisions would have had in the Luftwaffe. Wonder if anyone with BF inside contacts can shed light on this.

shhhhhhhhhhh - dont say anything......Its awesome just the way it is......

Cant recreate this, are you guys updated to 4.02? Also what date and region is this?

"Sorry, I'm a stickler for historical accuracy ;) "

Well if your going to rasie that, also raise the fact the FJ squads dont come with Dmo charges - while the brits and US squads do - which is annoying.

Im sure that years / versions ago they did and now they dont....

I wouldnt be suprised if you pay the points cost on basis they do have them.....
