Still got mine but only passed it in August 1984 - had 4 driving lessons then took my test and passed it first time. The roads were quiet on the day as it was during the school holidays and it was a Wednesday- in those days the shops closed for a half day on Wednesdays.
Also passed my motorcycle test first time but I had been riding on a provisional licence for four years before I took the test.

Wow, I was born in June 56. I failed my first attempt at mine, but went back a week later and passed. Had to be able to parallel park (Which I did first time) got my "Probationary" license in 72. Got my motorcycle "endorsement" a year later. Took that on my brother in laws somewhat custom Triumph Bonneville.
I got my motorcycle (not car, just motorcycle) license in....hmmmm....1982? Took Driver's Ed in either my Junior or Senior year of high school and got my car license during that, so 1983-84.
Fun fact, I've still got my earnings statement from my first pay period of my first full time job, in 1988. I was making a whopping $5.50 an hour, which was twice minimum wage, lol.

Yeah, Drivers Ed....they don't have that anymore. A social Studies teacher did that after school for extra money I suppose. Mr Studer was his name. It was me and 2 girls, I didn't get much driving time, the girls were awfull.
Yes I went to get my motor bike licence, and then my HGV Licence, this the car I passed in, Ford Popular

I was just happy to get out of dad's house and have my own apartment (think they are called "flats" in Britain). First thing I bought was a Pioneer receiver/amp and some big speakers (in hindsight, probably not a good choice for apartment living).
