Good morning to you all.
I’m recently retired and looking forward to finally having time to enjoy my gaming hobby like I did when I was young. I ended up here while looking for information on learning to play Graviteam games. I don’t know what it is about Graviteam games that seem so much harder to digest compared to Combat Mission. I started to feel like I’m too stupid to be able to learn in my middle age.

This looks like a friendly place to get advice and make new friends. I’m a very early riser who spends quite a bit of time reading. I look forward to interesting conversations.

Cheers

Welcome @Nightstalker. You're right, it is a friendly place to have a chat and gain new friends, and even get in the odd game of Combat Mission if that interests you!

The lads will no doubt be along soon to give you the tour, but in the meantime there's a wealth of information in these forums for you to peruse at your leisure.

Hiya @Nightstalker. I noticed it has been harder to learn new things as well, when I did a first aid course earlier this year.
Many of my peers in the course were experiencing the same thing. It took many repetitions to make things stick.

It is dawning on me that mental fitness is similar to physical fitness - use it or lose it. Well, lost only temporarily.
It's a bit harder to get back into physical or mental shape if you haven't trained in a while (like me), but your aptitude and endurance improves.
This coming year, among other projects, I am planning on learning music and to play the piano keyboard (buying a MIDI synth keyboard for the computer)...as well as stepping up my game physically.
So far my push-ups are done by just pushing on the kitchen counter at 45 degrees - but it's a start. I'm going to make hunger and muscle-pain my good friends. :devilish:

Interesting conversations are one of my favorite things. :alien:

Greetings, @Nightstalker! You should soon receive @Hedgehog's Welcome Wagon hand-outs! They make good reading.

There's an FGM consensus that the overly frustrating difficulty learning Graviteam games has much to do with the lack of good English language game guides and player aids. To that end, @Lethal2615 has compiled his own at our thread Tank Warfare Tunisia 1943 - FGM Learners Guide. Feel free to post your questions there. Someone will get back to you. For what it's worth, I struggle with learning that game as well.

If you're looking for a worthwhile WW2 tactical combat computer game, you won't go wrong with any of the Battlefront Combat Mission series of titles. That's most of what FGM plays against each other. Check them out and download the demo's. Everyone here would be glad to help you.

When you are ready for Combat Mission H2H play, consider using CMHelper to manage your matches.
Then, post your first request for a match either here or at the forum for the game(s) you own.

Welcome to The Few Good Men. Good luck and good gaming! Have fun.

Greetings from the other side of the great white north. (It's a beauty way to go, eh?)

This place, FGM, is very friendly and respectful. Welcome.

Thanks for all the greetings. I do actually own some battlefront games as well, which I love. CM is much easier to wrap my head around. I just refuse to let the Graviteam games beat me.

Playing a instrument is a joy, nothing like mastering one of your favorite songs and having drunken sing along.
