Ever since WW2 a succession of incompetent Labour and Tory governments have run Britain into the ground, but ironically many of those moaning ex-servicemen and women are the very ones who've been regularly voting them into power over the years!
Well lets be honest... people died for our right to vote so we like to excercise that privelege.. unfortunately its the options that are available that make it worthless too vote as they are all as bad as each other.
As a young kid growing up on a council estate in the mid-1950's I remember all the hoo-ha at voting time as loudspeaker vans went round, canvassers with rosettes knocked peoples doors, local buildings were turned into polling stations, it was all over the TV and radio and papers and so on; my parents even took me with them to vote.
I asked them what it was all about and they told me voting means people can vote for who they want to be their member of parliament.
"Who do you vote for?" I asked my parents, and they said "Labour, we always do, because they're for ordinary working-class people like us, but the Tories are for posh people"
That's been the stance of the British public ever since, the Labour voters vote Labour, the Tory voters vote Tory, and the Libdem voters vote Libdem like mindless robots year in year out, even though the country is falling down around their ears because their attitude is "I've voted for them all my life and i always will".
Happily, people nowadays are become heartily sick of the Big 3 parties and are looking to the smaller parties for salvation, one in particular got a million votes last time..;)
