Battle Brothers -- bloody addictive game

I'm still enjoying it immensely. Hard to say where I am at this point in the game....middle perhaps? I don't read about it online, I just play. I don't even know what the level cap is, if there is one. Very fun game. Hope the devs are working on an add on or a sequel.

It is amazing how this game -- which is essentially a lot of rinse and repeat-- can keep one's attention.
There is just enough variation in the battles, opponents kit and skill and random maps etc to keep it fun and interesting.

I've picked up a few handy tips from watching a few vids -- like when you are doing a trade convoy escort, you can stop at a town you are passing through with "ctrl click" on the town as the wagon icon moves into the town -- helpful to stock up on stuff or new recruits if your are having a rough time along the way.

As an example of surprise in a battle -- recently got jumped by a group of mainly 14 bandit thugs and a few archers -- with crap equipment and virtually no armour. Thought -- this'll be a quick massacre . Turns out they had really high battle and archery skills -- most got inside my shield wall immediately (killed one of my vet archers with a deadly focused barrage of arrows) within two turns) and handed out a rash of quite bad wounds before I cut them down.
Complacency is not your friend...

@Rico What are your thoughts on trading in Kite Shields for Heater Shields?

Kite shields offer more protection against bolts and arrows ... heater shields better in hand-to-hand, especially if wielder has some good skills.
If possible, keep both in inventory ... especially to switch over to kites for everybody (even archers in back row as reserve kit to switch over -- "quick hands" skill is your friend) when facing goblins and wolfriders ... those poison arrows can be really debilitating.
Also, if you face militia or other mercenaries in the War scenario ... it can get nasty if they have serious crossbows.

Keeping my latest group's adventures ticking over ... tried something new ... captured an Orc Berserker two-handed axe and I had this rather strong wildman type recruited, Sigmund The Savage -- so I gave him that huge axe to wield and see what happened.
He's still around 29 battles later (just gotta keep him out of range of enemy archers and crossbows) ... and some of the those one-blow kills and decapitations are just fun to behold (and trashed every shield just about) ... and the Orcs don't like it either.
That said, that big axe is generally too unwieldy against goblins and wolves -- so he's by now got a kopesh and heater shield for melee work (and the quick-hands upgrade is essential and maxing his fatigue levels as well) ... and the fancy new armour and helmet doesn't hurt either :)
