Checking the Terrain

I'm through basic training in CMBN and getting ready to tackle Task Force Raff.

But I've already found myself when driving in the country I check the terrain thinking where would I set up a defense? That tree line there at the edge of the field looks good and I can always fall back to the next tree line there at the top of the rise. Then of course, how would I attack that position?

Anyone else do this?

No, I check the radio to make sure I have the right frequencies to call tac air and arty.

Not for a long long time. My wife reminded me that I was no longer in the Army, no longer eligible for recall to the Army, and that I needed to pay better attention to the driving at hand.
