The atrocities perpetrated by the Comanche, pale in comparison to those of the white usurpers of their homeland. While I don't condone their actions, I would recommend to those who experience moral outrage, to remember these words..."Those who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones". Had the white man not pursued 'Manifest Destiny', we wouldn't be reading this article. As a side note, there was once a bounty paid for Native American scalps, so much for our Christian heritage.

To picture them as selfless, peaceful, nature loving urchins one has to have an agenda.

Though I do in fact have an agenda regarding America's treatment of the Red Man and his culture, it did not extend to my original post in this thread. I have no false pretense regarding the violent aspects of the Native American Warrior societies. My post was in response to what I read as hypocritical indignation presented by the writer(s) of the subject post.

Gentlemen, being part native and knowing what they were like from history and not the history painted by white men. They were a different culture and time, they were very violent to each other. Torture and death were a way of life, they drew from nature around them and from their base instincts. ( not always good) They would conquer another village to help the population increase, the men of the conquered village would be killed and the women and children adopted into the tribe, if they did not adapt they were killed. ( Kind of like what the western nations do to the tribes that do not support them. Only we are worst, we kill all and only care about ourselves.)
We have to be careful not to apply our cultural morals to that time period or any other then the present.

I do take offense to the comment "so much for our Christian heritage" what in God's green earth does Christianity have to do with it? One could insert Muslim, or Hindu with the same effect. LOL What the whites did to the Natives, is the same that we did t the Iraq's. Just because one throws out the world christian does not make him or her a christian. Read the Bible and get back to me, showing where it condones christians to live like barbarians killing in God's name?

what in God's green earth does Christianity have to do with it?

Many of those who condoned and or committed many of the atrocities against the original inhabitants of this nation, considered themselves God fearing Christians. They weren't Hindus or Muslims. The same type of folks who gave us the Inquisition and the Salem Witch Trials. While I do not question your Christianity, surely you can see how I would question those for whom the shoes fit.

I would not call them christians, the scripture is quite clear "you shall know them by their fruits" . Many than as do now call themselves christians because they were born in the USA or Canada, or came from a country that was majority christian. So technically they should be call heretics or secular humanist.

While I agree with that sentiment, it's also of note that sadly - including when it came to dealing with Native Americans - it was not the first, nor will it be the last time that those with less than moral agendas tend to use the veil of noble religion to mask the vile nature of their cause at the expense of those who practice their faith peacefully and without harm to others. Or worse, fervently believed that forcibly imposing their god through sword and book was indeed what the mission their god had thrust upon them.
Back to Facman's topical post, the writer title makes no subtlety in their attempt to stir the pot. If this "Journalist" had the sense to discern fiction (Tonto and the Lone Ranger has little or no basis in fact or reality) vs. the actual history of the American West & Native Americans (From the Cherokee to the Massacre at Wounded Knee and the bloody and awful business in between) this article would cease to be.

well put sir!
I get pissed because it seems that when someone mentions Christianity, people reflect back to situations like this or the crusades and paint all with the same brush. I don't often call myself a christian to people ,but call myself a follower of Christ, due to this misunderstanding about the faith.
