Listing to the LBC radio this morning and this question was raise...

If Edward VIII had not married Wallis Simpson, would this have change the cause of the war?

They also mentioned, that back in seventies, or his seventies not sure which now, I was trying to get breakfast brewing, that he blamed the war on the jews and the reds.

This was all taking place before the war, around 1933...1936. When Britain also had its Black shirts.

Though the question would be of interest and challange some eggheads here!

No.

Though Edward was you could say a little bit more friendly to Germans than his brother, the Monarchy wasn't running the British war effort. It may have been a bit of a propaganda coup for the Germans having him as the head of state, and a loss for the British, but wouldn't of changed the fact that the Government of the day declared the war and was in charge of it.

It would have been a hell of a showdown between Edward and Churchill in 1940 if it came to that but my money would have been on Churchill.
