After the loss in Gaul, Rico Africanus popularity grow to a point where the senate appointed him emperor elect.

Preparations were on-going, when a certain Salvius Abanus the Commander in chief of the ill-fated force to destroy the Barbarian’s in Gaul, made his reappearance. Issuing a claim that the traitor Rico Africanus was behind the uprising.

Regrettable, he ascertained that his wife fearing for her life had burnt the evidence to confirming this, but this was sufficient for the Northern families to rally around their beloved generous, heir to the Empire…

It was not long before Rico’s loyal followers attempted to real in the realms of the Empire. Egypt became a its first objective, that is the corn it produced, that still fed much of its citizens.

Fortunately, many within this territory supported the northern claim to the throne. The 13th legion led by Minucius Donatiunus
Marched to meet the invading forces dispatched from Syria. Their paths crossed outside at the village of “Braccas in Ignis”.

Minucius decide to move his forces away from the hills and stream, edging over to his right... while Ulpius Synnodus cavalry moved to pester the
the left flank. A Skirmish took place as Ulpius mobile archers provoked the enemy.

The enemy’s light javelin men soon, decided that it was not their forte to repel the light horse archers and routed…

Meanwhile the enemy cavalry continued to along the stream attempting to out flank the legionaries on the right. Fortunately,
the light javelin throwers, and slingers attacked and were able to unhorse a few mounted nobles.

The bloodthirsty Rufuis Draco (C-in-C) of the Armoured Nobel Cavalry charged and routed our Javelin men in the stream.
Then continued with his sport, onwards through the stream into our boy slingers whom he proceeds to hack to pieces!

The bastards!

The rest of Rufuis army out-numbering ours, paraded forward threatenly.

Out numbered is out numbered! (Another Remainer I bet!)

The 13th Legion rushed forward to save the boys, pushing back Rufuis armoured cutthroats.
Only for Rufuis veteran legionaries to rush in, but the valiant slingers held them back!

Out numbered the 13th legion tried to hold back, the traitors.

TURN 2

The battle on the Nile ends in a victory for the legions loyal to Nelsonius.

With the attack into Aegyptus by Rico Africanus's forces having been repulsed, Nelsonius's legions launch an invasion of Africa province with the aim of taking control of the southern shores of the Mediterranean.
Did the quick die roll ... no fresh Barbarian or Parthian activity (well, the Franks in Gallia are still pillaging and Nelsonius no longer has complete control of the province )

Battle resumes in the deserts...

The latest battle in the North African desert shaping up ... Nelsonius's forces at top of the map, Rico Africannus's at bottom ... pretty flat, with a body of water on the one side closing off the one flank and some patches of rough ground between the two armies that can disorganise formations... probably be quite a cavalry scrap on the right flank soon.

Nelsonius's forces are victorious and his side now controls the entire North African coast line ... Rico Africanus launches a naval force to control the Mare Occidentale and stop Nelsonius from attacking Italia from across the sea.

Turn reverts back to @Nelson1812 to make his next move. I have rolled the die ... no additional Barbarian or Parthian activity this turn.

How come there are both a Roman legion and a Barbarian horde still in Gallia ?

Because @Nelson1812 hasn't counter-attacked the Barbarians there yet -- so for scoring purposes, the province is not under his control -- nor can he attack out of it either. He obviously decided it's a better idea to advance via Hispania ;) ... and it doens't matter so far as he looks to be on a winning streak at the moment :eek:
