Hi everyone. I've been playing for a number of years with my brother, Gunner. I don't play as regularly as I'd like, but that'll change when I retire soon. I have the all the Battlefront WWII games and look forward to joining a tournament sometime. One question: Can anyone recommend some reading which could be applied to tactics at the squad level in CM?

Hello Medic, welcome to THE FEW GOOD MEN! :)
Good to have you with us!

By the way: I'm asking for MEDICS in CM since many years! :D

Greetings, @Medic! You already received @Hedgehog's Welcome Wagon hand-outs! They make good reading.
When you are ready for H2H play, consider using CMHelper to manage your matches.
Then, post your first request for a match either here or at the forum for the game(s) you own.

Check out the Armchair General Combat Mission videos for some tactical insights. Here's the first of the series

Check out Bil Hardenberger's "Battle Drill" for tips and tricks - http://battledrill.blogspot.com/

Welcome to The Few Good Men. Good luck and good gaming! Have fun.

Greetings and sympathy @Medic - having @Gunner as a bro must be tough, all that bragging. (sorry @Gunner, he's got loose again)

Anyways, welcome to the club.
A suggested list of activities recommended by our resident hygienist (what) to get the most out of our club facilities:
Enjoy, play nice, play bad, ramble on about stuff, wander into other people's rooms, interrupt, play hard, win often, lose often, etc (oh and ignore Zinzan as often as possible).

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to spill the dirt on @Gunner ASAP.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm not ready for a match right now. I'm going to wait for the next tournament. And I'll be checking the links you all suggested.

Heyo mate good to have you with us.

H2H is where cm shines, and the best part is to knack some enemy Panzers :cheerso::cool:

Thanks all. I wasn't a medic. I never served in the military (although part of me wishes I had, but we were at the height of the Viet Nam war). I'm a doctor & I've always been interested in how the medics & doctors worked & did their jobs. Most of the advances in medicine resulted from war.

Uh-oh, @Medic. Don't let the membership allow you to create a free medical advice stickie thread! :shocknaz:
Yep, military medicine is fascinating indeed. I'm also told the Coliseum hosted Rome's finest medical practitioners to care for the gladiators there. If war bears any fruits, they seem to be in medicine, metallurgy, and engineering advances; interesting ironies.
It's good to have you with us. Good luck and good gaming.

HAHAHA! People will take what they can get it seems.

Welcome, Medic. I'm new here too, but not necessarily new to CM.
As for reading materials - I'd say it really depends on which CM games you're playing because the Tactics, Techniques and Procedures that apply to the modern titles differ greatly from the WWII themed titles. I would recommend viewing Usually Hapless' tutorial series for some tips. Not exactly "reading" material but he makes some very illustrative and relevant tutorial videos.
