Gday folks, new (sort of) player here. I say sort of as I was playing CMBO/BB/AK around 15 years ago and dabbled with the CMBN demo around 2011(ish?).

While waiting for CMBN proper to launch I forgot all about the CM games until I stumbled across Josey Wales' excellent AARs last week, and caught the bug again.

A little about me, I'm 38, married, one child, and work as a road train driver in Western Australia. I prefer smallish engagements, around company sized or slightly larger, am happy to play any nationality but have a bias towards Australian/British if available (WG bring back North Africa!).

I'd be happy to fire up a game or two of either live or PBEM, am on holidays at the moment so have a fair bit of free time. Not sure how one goes about setting this up though, I understand there is a program to manage PBEM now? Any and all advice to do with playing multiplayer CM will be gratefully accepted!

Also is there a way to reduce the background ambient sound in the game? I'd like to reduce it to about 20% of its current level.
 
Welcome aboard mate, yes there is a program called CM Helper which does exactly what it says on the tin and helps you manage your PBEM games.

The formal welcoming committee will be along shortly to show you the ropes.

When you are ready for H2H play, as @Josey Wales mentioned, consider using CMHelper to manage your matches.
Then, post your first request for a match either here or at the forum for the game(s) you own.

Sweet thanks @Josey Wales, I'm gunna have a closer look at the problem once I get home, same with CM helper, looks a little more complicated than I thought so I'll wait to do it on my desktop. Will go through it step by step with @Valkatox s instructional video.
