Holy Hell I cant believe I've never heard of this series (Combat Mission) until last week! Been at it for years ... Panzer Generals, Decisive Campaigns, Squad Battles, WITE, all the Close Combat's.

The typical armchair general type that becomes a Field Marshall at night with a bottle of scotch next to his monitor after the wife has gone to bed but barely able to get his dogs to follow his commands. Keep going back to Close Combat for the lack of a proper alternative - UNTIL NOW).

Thought I knew how to wage war so started a QB on Elite, with Green troops (cause you know - I want a "challenge") - but CM is a whole different ballgame. My foe fired a few rounds and my whole platoon got up and fucked-off (half getting mowed down in the process). Got my ass handed to me a few times subsequent but I'm getting there and looking forward to a few MP games as soon as I can get my damn spotters to land the bombs where they are needed.

I had to put it away - there seems to be a distinct correlation with the lifespan of my Panthers and the fullness of the bottle ....

Heee-Heee Yup this game makes you work for victory - amazingly enough real world (combined arms) tactics work pretty well (y)(y)(y)
