Hi,
So I am finally getting around to introducing myself. I am a South African, living in France, and currently serving in the French Foreign Legion.
I only recently stumbled onto Combat Mission and I have to admit it has quite quickly become an obsession, thanks to the AAR's on youtube (especially the ones posted by Ithikial).
I started out in wargaming with my older brother, playing old-school table-top rules with dice and rulers and machine gun cones. We had to play on the carpet as my mom did not tolerate having our longer overnight games on the dining room table. This made our line-of-sight arguments quite difficult to resolve, with your head squished as far down as possible on the floor while screaming 'of course my tank can see you!!!'.
From these humble beginnings I have moved through anything that claimed to simulate real tactical combat, going from Close Combat, to Company of Heroes, to Men of War, and the newer Wargame series of games. Nothing has captivated me as Combat Mission has, so far. I am absolutely in love with the relative spotting concept, and the fact that having to read the lie of the land is of utmost importance.
I am currently working through Shock Force, and will be getting Black Sea right after that, and then I definitely want to get stuck in living out my passion for anything to do with the second world war.
I have never really played against Human opponents, and with my current job, it is practically impossible, but as soon as things settle down I would love to participate in Campaigns, and even create some from scratch.
Looking forward to participate in this forum.
