In 1930, a mere nine years before the outbreak of World War Two, America drew up proposals specifically aimed at eliminating all British land forces in Canada and the North Atlantic, thus destroying Britain's trading ability and bringing the country to its knees.

Previously unparalleled troop movements were launched as an overture to an invasion of Canada, which was to include massive bombing raids on key industrial targets and the use of chemical weapons, the latter signed off at the highest level by none other than the legendary General Douglas MacArthur.

The plans, revealed in a Channel 5 documentary, were one of a number of military contingency plans drawn up against a number of potential enemies, including the Caribbean islands and China. There was even one to combat an internal uprising within the United States.

Always thoughts military contingency planning was and still is bad idea.
1. First no one ever used them, if a plan is needed, then it draft up.
2. No one can fore case the future, so why bother trying to plan for it.
3. Only people interested in your contingency planning are your enemies and spys or both.
4. contingency planning make for poor reading for you know that they base on unrealistic assumptions.
5. No one ever loses in they contingency planning, always win, another clue to never trust them.
6. contingency planning is only good as a training aids for general staff and should be burned afterwards.

Ypu may be right there, but the Von Schlieffen plan almost worked. Although one could arhue it failed because of the alterations in the plan....

The US has always thought itself bigger then it is...I guess they didn't learn anything from history?
The plans of men are nothing in the sight of God.

...and so have the Persians, the Egyptians, the Romans, the French, the Spanish, the Germans and yes, the blessed British. And you can sleep better at night knowing that somewhere buried in a file cabinet in the basement at Whitehall there is a plan to attack the United States of America...but I don't think it's been updated since the Battle of New Orleans...

You Canadians keep learning from history, and for better or worse, us Americans will keep making it...

“America makes prodigious mistakes, America has colossal faults, but one thing cannot be denied: America is always on the move. She may be going to Hell, of course, but at least she isn't standing still.”
E.E. Cummings

“You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.”
Winston Churchill

Well The difference between all those countries listed is they all had colonies... The US does not??? I guess not for the lack of trying.Always funny that the yanks always bring up the only battle they won in the war of 1812...and none of the other factors that played a greater part in Britian not finishing the war in the Americas. Oh well if it makes you feel better...

Blah, blah. Always the same anti-American tinge.

Quick life and history lesson for you champ...the only time the score matters is at the end of the game...this is the classic you can win all the battles, or most of them, and still lose the war. The lesson is on me pal. ;^)
