Welcome to The Few Good Men

Thanks for visiting our club and having a look around, there is a lot to see. Why not consider becoming a member?

mTk's Excellent Adventure...

Was in San Diego yesterday. Docked to starboard, about 500m aways was the USS Midway (CV-41) and in the stern, about 1-2 miles, was the USS Ronald Reagan (CV-76). What really got my attention though ("What, two historic carriers didn't work for you?") was fleet oiler #167. It was ginormous!

Typing this from Ensenda harbor as we get on a bus shortly to visit a winery/distillery. The wife is on the scnet of some pear brandy.

While in Long Beach we had the "Ultimate Dining Experience". We have a suite with a large balcony. They set up your table with a white table cloth, etc, provide you with the drink of your choice (a Hendricks martini, up, very dry, two olives, stirred not shaked). Then a waiter in a tuxedo serves a 4-course dinner (I had a 10 0z filet perfectly prepared) with a champagne chaser.

We have a sea day tomorrow and then back to S.F. Saturday morning. I should be back to breaking things and killing people by that afternoon.

@Hedgehog I get asked that frequently. Not really. The Star Princess has about 2600 passengers, but it is huge so crowding isn't all that much of a problem. I don't like crowds so make use of the facilities a lot when in port and most passenger are ashore.

We have early dinner dining (5:30). Last night was "formal" night (dress up if you like, but certainly not mandatory. It was the 2nd on this trip, a bit unusual for only a 7-day cruise). Wife and I were in bed reading about 5:00. Looked at each other and decided we didn't want to get up and get dressed. Ordered some champagne instead and at 8:30 had rooms service deliver us some cheeseburgers and fries.

From here I head for the casino to try my luck at some video poker and perhaps a Johnny Walker Black, on the rocks with a twist. Gosh, by then it will likely be nap time! Oh, darn.

@mTk I suppose being a regular cruise man you know the do's and dont's .......Perhaps i might just
give it a try, my hands are tied really as Stella finds it hard to do a lot, she still tires very quickly
and her stroke as still made her very tired most of the time......Thanks for your input mate both of you
have a good time .....Catch you when you get back Mate

Don't think so. Lots of different passenger nationalities on a cruise ship.

@Hedghog. Stella would probably do just fine on a cruise. The staff go out of their way to accommodate passengers with any kind of disability (including me 'cause I still can't walk worth a damn). A little research (well more the better) before taking a cruise will answer almost any questions you can think of.

video poker was unkind. The much better financial investment was the JB Black. "Why yes. I think I will have another."

A lot of angst accompanies getting on and off a large cruise ship (for me). However, we've done it enough times now to know what to expect and this time it was very easy (having a limo pick us up both ways is not a bad thing either). Got home within an hour of starting to get off! Plenty of time for some WoT and a nap before catching up on CM.

Will try to get a few pics uploaded tomorrow.
