There was a social media campaign for Taylor Swift's 'Shake it off' (or whatever the song is called) to appear in Australia's annual Tripple J 'Hottest 100.' (Massively popular radio countdown on Australia Day, bit of an icon - but usually big for getting up and coming artists and the indie scene noticed).
Turns out she was disqualified when KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) started cashing in on the social media buzz offering the chance to win vouchers if you voted for her. This broke the rules for eligibility as the vote can't be incentivised in any way by business and publishers. Good old public broadcaster.
