Nanny state Goes Mad

I wonder when this stupid attitude to life will end..... I think I know !!!!!

Kleenex is scrapping "Mansize" branding from its tissue boxes after 60 years on the shelves as consumers called it out for being sexist.

The company said the tissues would now be called "Extra Large".

One customer questioned the firm after her four-year-old son asked if "girls, boys and mummies" can use them.

Kleenex didn't confirm a release date but told shoppers to "keep an eye out" for the new boxes.

How is it a nanny state issue when customers pointed out they didn't like branding and the company decided that they would change it. The government is not part of this story at all. Isn't that how capitalize is supposed to work? Customers give feed back in words and $ and companies decide how best to fill those needs?

#confused :D

Here in Switzerland we have a marshmellow sweet called "Mohrenkopf" which translates to "black-mans-head". The term "Mohr" was often used in a master & slave context but in this case this sweet has this Name since more then 100 years and not in a rassistic manner but because the sweet is coverd in dark(black) choclett.

Now there is a discussion to Change the Name because it is 2018 and it is no longer PC to do so.
IMHO we have worse Problems then this Kind of BS

Yeah, but won't it make them feel so good about themselves once it's changed? Thats what it's all about.

Also confused as to what the "state" has to do with this decision?

@mcmortison: I have to correct You a bit, comrade! "Mohr" comes from "Moor" or better yet "The Moors". So the translating should be "Dark-Man´s-Head". And to give it a bit more substance yet: The Moors weren´t a homogeneous group and much less such a folk. They were later on called Saracens. And Saracens aren´t black but dark in very many facets. ;) Thanks for Your attention!

Greetings

Smash the patriarchy! Hey Hey, Ho Ho! Mansize Kleenex has to go! Hey Hey, Ho Ho! Mansize Kleenex has to go! The future is female! #believeallwomen

In the Netherlands these things were called "negerzoen", literally translated negro-kiss. That was deemed racist so they are now called "chocolade-zoen" (chocolate kiss).
Don't know if that was a government thing or the producer getting tired of negative comments about his product.

Times change... sensibilities change ... always have been.

The biggest thing in our country about political correctness ie racism, is "de Zwarte Pieten discussie". Hard to explain to an outsider.

I believe there is an ulterior motive.
Corporations do little unless it has the possibility for profit.
All this talk and media coverage makes it look like Kimberly-Clarke (who owns Kleenex brand) is more women friendly.
Women are probably the main purchasers of tissues and with all this free advertising sales will increase.
It's all about the money.
