Naval Action

Bought this in early Access on steam (have 25h ingame time). Was some fun. My friends and I finally stoped playing because of the grinding you need to make some progress.
It looks really beautifull and the battles are fun. We had some laughs when we started raming smaller boots and so flipped them over.

I've played the game for a few years.

The scenery is gorgeous and dynamic. The water and light changes texture and hue with the time and weather. There is room enough to sail for hours and experience the vastness of the open sea. Trading and crafting is possible (with the AI and with players) but the valuable content comes from interacting with other players. Playing solo with only the game mechanics might get tedious and some players complain of 'the grind'. But by chatting with others and carefully building trust it is possible to build business relationships and learn what goods and products are valuable, where dangerous areas are, and who you can rely on for support . Many helpful players have paid for my labor, provided escort through pirate invested waters and given me ship's. Many of the players enjoy combat because it is skill based. I've found that learning how to fight requires effort and practice as well as a little research or assistance.

Improves:
The game has lots of potential but the developers seem content to create an entire experience focused mostly on fighting. Ships cannot be damaged by weather, rocky shores or collisions with other ships. The speed of all ships when travelling is exaggerated and they look like speed boats racing around . Players can teleport between the seaside towns and even teleport their whole ship occasionally. To me the combat is very gamey and lacks a lot of realism. The battles seem far too focused on balancing gameplay and competitive e-sport style mechanics. There is no opportunity to use strategy in the big picture and very little in the individual matches. NA fails to create the realism of being on the deck during a fight .... but does a good job as a fast paced action packed game.
