Welcome to The Few Good Men

Thanks for visiting our club and having a look around, there is a lot to see. Why not consider becoming a member?

Something's cooking in the Campaign kitchens...

...in collaboration with Chef @Nathangun .... a bit of a hiatus last week or so for feeling under weather, but design work should resume shortly ... fusing of many years of campaign design and concepts...

Pretty much putting everything on hold otherwise -- FOGII campaign now ticking over nicely... thinking of a "Microbattles" version of Quick & Dead .

This is a more ambitious spin off of that fictitious campaign idea .... many of the rules and concepts and lessons learned there being incorporated, but adapted to map zones instead of hexes (and being played on a much larger map with hopefully more room to maneuver)... and the whole thing being inspired by the spirit of the old CM1 Onion Wars.

Rebooting an old concept of displaying force mix and unit OOB on the map counters as well.

The campaign is envisaged to be run using CMFI/GL using period from Salerno landings up until winter 1943 as basis.

CMFI maps are just visually appealing and the OOB’s interesting yet limited enough for GM’s to easily track.

Hoping to keep actual battles relatively small...

It’ll be British (maybe also Commonwealth thrown in) vs Germans.

Thought of possibly making it CMRT... Especially with the role playing aspect of clashing ideological opposed regimes....

Role playing will be essential.

Guess starting a developers blog here would be a good idea as we go along... early days yet.

The Campaign pot is simmering ... we've done some stirring and we have the first draft of a campaign map (no names, labels etc filled in yet) ... the Island of Borscht (working title :p) ... split between two antagonistic countries/regimes that go to war ( @Badger73 -- it's the Rico Reich -Gunn Republic Island War ... just bigger) .... a clear homage to the legendary "Onion Wars"... battles will be fought over map zones ... it's quite a shoe-string affair, base units are infantry companies with support weapons, but fear not, there will be lots of tanks and stuff too ... just want to keep the actual CMFI battles small(ish) and quick.

You see the "Southern" army's 4th Battalion with it's three companies arrayed along the border, with it's arty battery and HQ in support... more on how the unit counters work shortly.

Here's how your basic units will look like ... all units are built on a base of an Infantry Company (can be armoured/mech as well ... and there might be some specialised Para and Commando units too)
(Tank and and armoured units will be handled differently)

The detailed strength and OOB information on each counter will only be visible for your own units -- enemy unit composition and strengths will have to be obtained via recon and battle reports. (full FOW will be in force)

The three pips under the NATO infantry symbol indicate the strength of the three basic rifle/infantry platoons of the company.
(if a company ends up having 4 platoons, another pip can be added.)

The colour indicates headcount strength:
Black: 100%
Blue: 75%
White: 50%

(details still to be ironed out with co-conspirator @Nathangun -- platoons under 50% strength get eliminated)

All support elements always come in THREES at full strength ... if they take casualties, then colour of their NATO symbol changes on the counter:

Black: 3 guns or MG Teams
Blue: 2
White: 1

So company on right for example, has one platoon at 100%, one at 50% and the third at 75%
In support it has: 3x HvyMG, 2x AT Guns, 1x medium mortar
