Was the damage radius larger than just the pictured crater (i.e. did any of the squad to the left get caught up in the blast)?

From my point of view, I made a big honking crater in the landscape and took out at least two Syrian Pixeltruppen!

I'd expect there'd be more casualties, that squad seemed to be standing up while the bomb went off?

@Lethaface. While the physical impact of the VBIED was less that I thought it was it seems to have an outsized impact on my troops mental state. Many are questioning their current occupation.
