I have never quite understood the HD thing, I prefer speed, cornering and brakes....

Ducati day a year before last.

A Lot of people look at HDs with a bad taste. They are associated with the outlaw club world (HD hates this) and the baggage that goes along with that stigma. Most of HD's customer are getting too old to ride and they are having a really hard time attracting younger riders. Now throw in the fact that Polaris is cranking out some really good bikes under the Indian banner and it's like HD is getting kicked while on the ground. The only thing, in my opinion, that can save them is if their current clientele can change the image of a HD rider. Sadly, this is a commonly held view, the majority are the biggest try hard asshats riding around on the streets.

So,
I've been following this guy on You Tube and though I'd share it with like minded folk here.......

GoPamir on Africa Twin. A three-week adventure ride through Central Asia, on Silk Road. From the yourts of Kyrgyzstan to the high plateau of Pamir - The Roof of The World. It all started on a sunny day in Bishkek.

For starters, this Honda Africa Twin is an amazing bike.

The scenery, drone footage and quality of footage matched with the stunning scenery make this well worth watching so I hope the bikers amongst you will appreciate the indulgence.

Got a new one in the stable. In November I bought a 2017 Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 SE and have been riding as much as possible since. Always liked how Guzzis looked but never thought of buying one. Came across the Griso, rode it once, and it was a done deal. Cant wait for warmer weather so I can take longer rides and really start to push this bike. Riding in temps from 40-25f gets a little chilly.

Generic pic of the bike. I have the same color scheme.

This reminds me.
I just finished "Hot motors, Cold feet" by Helmut Gunther
He was a motorcycle messenger on the Eastern Front, good quick read. He has a second book but there aren't many english translations available and those that are are pricey.

Just now saw this. Dude, that is one sweet looking ride. Looks very sporty. Enjoy!

After some discussion/negotiating, my wife has given me the go ahead to buy a new bike this year. I have decided on the Iron 1200. I expect to have it within two or three months. Before I even take it home from the dealership, I'm gonna have them install some Vance and Hines Short Shots. I'm pretty excited already!

Bought my bike today. I was going to buy a brand new Iron 1200, but found a 2018 model at my local dealership with 4038 miles on it that is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of upgrades. Here are some pics from the dealership (images are thumbnails, so click on them):

Here is the list of mods/upgrades:

Custom paint job (guy who did it lives in my town)

Vance & Hines "Big Radius 2-INTO-2" exhaust

Arlen Ness "Monster Sucker" air cleaner

LA Choppers "Kage Fighter T-Bars"

Biltwell grips

Led lighting

They also gave me a lifetime power train warranty (engine, and anything lubricated by oil) as long as I own the bike and as long as I have them service it every 5000 miles.

I'm stoked!!

It snowing pretty hard today, so they are going to trailer it to my house tomorrow, free of charge.

C'mon Spring!
