A Shout Out for Steel Beasts Pro PE Players

No more lame excuses. Time for the upgrade to come out. I need to try out the new gizmos.

Cool man, let me know what you think. I'll be picking it up this weekend myself. Too busy this week to mess with it :(.

Going to have my first scenario created in 4.0 ready in about 2 weeks. Will post some pics at a later date of screenshots with respect to testing. Scenario depicts an early United States Army 1980's mechanized infantry battalion blunting the advance of an East German Advanced Guard. Players will be able to crew M113A3 PC's, their infantry and assorted ATGMs etc., and of course the main playable vehicle I'm featuring in this scenario is an entire company of M60A3 (TTS) battle tanks. Those interested in getting together in order to try this scenario out please post here. Once we know how many we have, I can then plan on a date and time period for us all to get-together. Cheers.

Still working on this scenario. Been going deeper with the enemy AI tactics so it is taking me longer than I had originally planned. Will keep this thread updated from time to time. Cheers.

I have this and its a great tank simulator. I used to play M1 Tank Platoon a lot both the original and the remake on the 90's. This is a step up from that. I've never gone online and played. I watch youtube videos of online play. Looks like fun, but I probably wouldn't last very long.

@enigma6584 do you still play this?
Sorry for the late reply @Nathangun . I don't at least for the past 2-3 years? Played it so much, almost every other night that I got burn out on it and wanted to play different things. Actually been thinking of getting back into it. But I'd have to do some reading and such to see how to reinstall everything and what I'd need to buy to upgrade to latest version. I have a lifetime license so I figure I'll get back into it eventually. Been spending most my time on Flight Sims lately.

VR in Flight Sims are the bees knees now. So many people swear by the experience. I don't yet have a VR set but will most likely get one this year. I have to read up on them again and do some research before the purchase. Regarding "expensive SB license," it really is relative. I am not someone who spends money on many games etc. but I do spend on games that interest me and I know I will play quite a bit. Steel Beasts Pro PE is the ultimate tank simulator. Well worth the price I paid for the lifetime license. I've had so many hours on it since mid 2000s it has more than paid for itself in terms of my entertainment. The fidelity of the sim is just phenomenal. The number of nights I've spent in multiplayer with people, primarily real tankers (retired) where we simulated real tactical engagements or at least how they should be done will be forever etched in my pleasant memories of playing this game.

I definitely will get back into it at some time. Time is what I'm short of unfortunately and I'm currently spending it elsewhere. Cheers.

I have VR and use them in flight sims. A few things I've noticed.

1. I have a high eyesight correction and using VR with corrective lenses can be a challenge. You may end up getting special glasses to use and you may even get a specific prescription to use.
2. A HOTAS setup is necessary.
3. You may experience nausea and have to ease into VR.
4. VR is going to require a good rig. Graphics cards have escalated in price due to crypto miners buying up supply. Some cards are hard to get and the asking price is ridiculous. There is also a microchip shortage. Companies that build and sell prebuilt rigs are getting priority when it comes to graphic cards. I was fortunate to get my card before all the craziness took hold. I have a nice rig, but will probably get a prebuilt with the latest components soon as well as a newer gaming laptop. I don't have a crystal ball, but I feel we may be seeing shortages soon.
5. The fidelity of VR is not as sharp as monitors in some cases. Clouds are sharper in DCS from my experience.
6. The VR interface in some sims is better implemented. FS 2020 has the best VR setup. The way its been implemented is first rate.

As much as I like the wow factor of VR, I actually still prefer to play on my monitor.

I did not like VR in DCS with my Oculus Quest. Couldn't read the instruments. The lack of sharpness was a dealbreaker.

My killer app for VR is Google Earth VR :)

I was aware of the other things you listed but this one I've been wondering about. Thanks for clarifying this.
