Battle Brothers -- bloody addictive game

You been saving up?

Actually, yea. I had $40k burning a hole in my pocket. I was visiting all the towns on the map, trying to find a legendary bow for Ithikial, when I came across that set of legendary plate mail and had to have it. Sorry Ithikial. I'm down to $3k now. Time to get back to work.

My favorite jobs now are the noble patrol/collect heads missions. If I'm having trouble finding random wandering bad things, I just head to a fortress/hideout and attack it.

The escort caravan missions are a breeze now. Nothing ever attacks the caravan if my guys are escorting, lol.

My least fav missions are the Schracts (treents), lindwurms, and hexen. The schrects and lindwurms tend to cause multiple injuries, and the hexen are a PITA because of Charm.

Today was a great day to be in the Gens Antiquus!!

First of all, we got a "3 skull" noble contract that we negotiated up to $4520 crowns. Turns out it was a "protect a town from greenskin raiders" job. Right up our alley!

Secondly, when we get to said town, we immediately encounter a 25 Goblin raiding party, which included a couple of goblin overseers, a couple of shamans, and a Goblin Champion archer.... "Something-Or-Other The Skinner" (forget his name, but whatever)!! I noticed immediately that his bow was different than the normal Goblin archer bows.

After a couple of failed attempts at defeating them alone, we retreated towards the town, with them in tow, and lo and behold, encountered a band of 23 soldiers of the realm! What luck! Now, we realized is all we need to do is let the professional soldiers do most of the work, with the one caveat that we MUST have a man on the corpse of "Something-Or-Other The Skinner" if and when he falls in battle (which we plan to assure he surely does). This worked out splendidly, and @Badger73 had the honor of lopping of the Goblin Champion's head, standing over his corpse, and collecting his special bow.

Which I think is probably an upgrade for @Ithikial, and will replace this (which has better base damage, but the Northern Greatbow is better in most other aspects):

But wait, there's more!

Completing this contract fulfilled the "gain ally with a noble house" ambition for the Gens. Oh yea, baby!

Noice!

Being a solar panel installer means I am usually quiet for work during an English winter. Looking through my Steam library I thought I'd have another go at Battle Brothers to while away the long nights and I fear I have become addicted. This addiction doesn't mean I've gotten any better at the game though and I'm impressed to see the dizzy levels at which people like @Meat Grinder have gotten to - bravo!

With my new found addiction has come a need for knowledge and I stumbled across this today;

Oh, brother, I can't keep my party alive in the mountains, on the prairie, and in the forests, now they throw the desert at me...

It's the crack cocaine of computer games ... and so great to just pop in and play a few missions now and then and keep your band going.
