Hi guys... as a little side-line I work designing battlefield tours and running them for this company as part of a pretty big team. This weekend Im running 2 tours of the Fromelles battlefield from the First World War... an absolute catastrophe for the Australians who just weren't prepared for the Western Front in 1916 (and the fact miscommunication meant some attacked with no support at all across no mans land). It started up as a company for battle guides who couldn't do actual tours but it has grown and is now proving really popular. Here is a trailer I made for this weekends tour.

I'm curious how to tour/interpret a WWI battlefield.
We toured around Ypres and it was hard to get a picture of where and what actually happened. The landscape has, well, healed and been built up upon.

Shane, when things are safe again for travel do these guides tour the ground itself?

Excellent presentation.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable.
I look forward to actually going to the sites someday.

One interesting point was the "above ground" trenches due to the water table.
I'm surprised it wasn't used more often especially in the Ypres area.
