A German Neo-noir drama set in the final years of the Weimar republic. You may recognize the main character from 'Generation War'.

A vice detective, a WW1 vet with PTSD who self medicate himself gets involved with a murder investigation concerning warring factions of Bolsheviks and a mysterious train from Russia that just arrived in Berlin.

Good acting and locations enhance the deep and ever-growing story. While we all know what's happens politically the characters don't and the word Nazi isn't even mentioned until 2/3 of the way through the first season.

Very enjoyable to watch and I like how the club scenes are a part of the story. Think of a more bizarre non-nazi Caberet.

Currently three seasons available and a fourth is being filmed for release in 2022.

This is a great series!

If you're like me and can't stand overdubbing, it is possible to find the subtitled German version - don't settle!

I agree - very good (if somewhat bizarre at times) - was fortunately able to watch it in original German - my wife was following the sub titles, and me sitting there complaining how rubbish the sub titles were now and then.

The version I have watched is in German with English subtitles.
I am sure much is lost from the original script in the subtitling process

In every language, there are expressions and phrases that just can't be easily translated (or at all) -- just a fact of life
