Sculpture of the famous Konrad Schumann (1942/1998) on Berlin, the East German border guard, who in 1962 defected from the East to the West across the Berlin Wall.
On 20 June 1998, suffering from depression, he committed suicide, hanging himself in his orchard near the town of Kipfenberg in Upper Bavaria.
