1.) From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean:
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

2.) Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in every clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines.

3.) Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

4.) Again in 1941,
we sailed a north'ard course
and found beneath the midnight sun,
the Viking and the Norse.
The Iceland girls were slim and fair,
and fair the Iceland scenes,
and the Army found in landing there,
the United States Marines.

Growing up with the name 'Jody' was always a challenge here in the US, as most folks think of it as a girls name, and are always quick to point that out to me. However, nothing prepared me for what I was to experience when I got into the Corps. Everywhere I went for the rest of my enlistment' was an adventure in being the butt of many jokes. When I joined up with my Company (D 1/4 3rd Mar Div) at LZ Stud, within an hour, just about everyone in the Co. had come by to meet the infamous Jody, all left with big smiles on their faces. Then once I became the Company FAC, no one rotated out without first saying farewell to me, and asking for my girl's phone number. Needless to say, when my turn to rotate out was approaching, I heard scuttlebutt about all the nefarious plans my mates had for keeping me from rotating out. And when I did leave, I asked many for their girl's numbers, didn't get any.
