Gentlemen, it has been 6 months since the failure of Operation Magnitude... in that time the CSAT (Canton-Protocol Strategic Alliance Treaty) forces led by a resurgent Iran have completely taken over the Islands of Altis and Stratis in the Mediterranean.

Our former Allies the Altis Armed Forces are now loyal to the new, hard-line Altis government and they act with de facto judicial and executive authority. However, it is debilitated by an inexperienced command structure and is blighted by widespread corruption and this is our 'in'. Another full scale assault is out of the question and it has fallen on the shoulders of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) to turn the screw on the AAF.

If we cause them to falter in their partnership with CSAT it will have a twofold effect. Number one will be the resurgence of the Freedom and Independence Army (FIA). Despite recent setbacks - the FIA have begun to gain traction among the largely displaced population of the Republic and will again hope to find international support in the west. It is imperative we get them on our side early... they are made up of civilian resistance and former and defected members of the Altis Armed Forces. Number two will be the movement of CSAT troops to keep the island under control. This will ease pressure on other CSAT involved global hotspots.

Altis and Stratis is our buffer between East & West. With CSAT sphere of influence spreading West we need to make a stand. Altis and Stratis is our stand.

Our mission is simple gentlemen... we need to kick the hornets nest and see what happens.

The Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) commands and controls the Special Mission Units (SMU) of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). These units perform highly classified activities.

Welcome back gentleman. You are Seal Team Six and this evening you launch the effort to retake Altis and Stratis. You will be inserted via submarine approx 500 yards of the north east coastline and you need to take out an enemy coastal lighthouse / listening post facility on the foreshore. Once complete you advance south avoiding the enemy airstrip and town and destroy 2 large transmitter towers. Once that is complete a radar post will be next in line for some Team Six loving. With these targets destroyed you are good to extract to the north at Gala Nera Bay.

In completing your tasks you are effectively enforcing a communication black out on the north east tip of the Island enabling our grunts to get on the ground in the morning and to take that airfield.

Good luck.

Participants in this mission were me, Bootie, Ithikial, Septic Limb, Nelson, Eniced and Double D.

Our first task was to swim to shore, gear up and clear an observation post on a lighthouse.

Guys decide to put on a lightshow with their laser designators.

We start our assault on the observation post by shooting the guard on top of the lighthouse. He quickly crumbles into a bloody heap when 6 guys open fire on him.
Clearing the area goes smoothly, there are only few hostile soldiers in the area.

There's plenty vehicles for us to use and we divide the team into two offroad trucks, so if one is blown up the whole squad isn't killed, and me taking the point with an ATV.
I was able to drive barely 100 meters when I run into a pair of hostiles on the road. I was able to yell a warning for the rest of the team before they gunned me down. The team deals justice swiftly and after I respawn and collect my equipment we get on the road.

Suddenly an enemy truck speeds by us and stops on a field next to the road we were traveling along. This confuses us somewhat. There isn't any other hostiles around, or at least no one spots any. I move to the truck and kill it's driver. This thing is loaded with first aid kits, which come very handy later.
During this Eniced was disconnected due to some connection problems and he unfortunately wasn't able to rejoin us.
(Note, the truck is that black silhuette between my crosshair and scope)

Rest of the drive closer to our targets is rather uneventful.

We leave the vehicles next to a cabin in middle of a wooded area and continue to the radio towers on foot.

We get into a position to observe the towers but enemy patrol catches us red-handed. We exchance some small arms fire with the enemy, who soon begin a furious bombardment with their underbarrel grenade launchers. Double D is hit during the initial barrage and the rest of us begin to retreat to north. This retreat evolves into a flanking maneuver toward the first tower.
During this slow maneuver we whittled the enemy forces around the towers away and we were able to conduct our demolition work in peace.
Bootie and Ithikial start piling explosives on the first tower, while rest of us look out for the enemy. Hilariously one of them accidently arms a 30-40 second timer on one of the bombs. Ithikial runs away from the tower, yelling for everyone to get away and Bootie keeps telling him that he can disarm the thing. The timer is disarmed and the bombs are later detonated remotely.

Charges are being placed on the second tower. No silly antics this time.
By this time Double D has made his way back to us from the spawn point near the lighthouse and he cleverly bought the aforementioned truck with him and stashed it with rest of our vehicles.

The second tower is destroyed.

Enemy riding an ATV appears after the destruction of the second tower but he is quickly dealt with. Unfortunately with the ATV rider occupying us, a truck full of hostiles is able to get close to us.
We come under intense small arms fire and even more severe grenade barrages then before.
We try to conduct a fighting retreat to the north but the enemy's firepower is too much to handle and we are out in the open, so I order everyone to just run towards north and find some hardcover. At this point all of us receive several wounds and pretty much all of our first aid kits are consumed.
We regroup by a couple of abandoned houses and decide to go back to our vehicles.
We are able to evade enemy troops and make it to the transports safe and sound.

Since Double D bought the truck filled with medical supplies, we are able to fix any lingering wounds and stock up on fist aid kits.
Next we split up. Septic Limb takes the ATV and goes to pick up Nelson who got disconnected earlier but was able to rejoin the game. Rest of us move to the last objective, a large radar dome.

We are able to silently take out a couple of guards at the radar but when I move to a entrence in the fence I get shot by a guard that I didn't spot, alerting the radars defenders.
Since I'm not where the action is, I can't really comment on what happened next.
The team was able to take the radar without anymore casualties but there apperently was some problem with the demolition efforts, the first charges proving to be ineffective.
I get picked up by the team on their way to extraction. We get to the extraction point and we all get to happily leave the island, expect for Septic Limb because there wasn't enough space in our only boat.

This was a rather fun mission.
The two fights by the radio towers were especially exciting.
Two things we could improve for coming missions;
The respawn system used is rather clunky and I would propose to replace it with the BTC Revive script, it has been used in the Grim Reaper mission which we have played earlier and I think it also was in the Knights Cross mission aswell.
The second thing is that I propably shouldn't be given anymore leadership positions.

Thanks for the AAR. Overall the mission played out well... having built it I thought I would know it inside out but thankfully due to the random patrol script I had running we were constantly on edge. There was a problem with the triggers on a couple of objectives but I was able to add them on the fly as I knew the objectives. I have fixed them hopefully and have put the scenario on Steam for others to play. This is one of the funniest missions I have played.... DONT CROSS THE BEAMS... had me roaring with laughter.

I do however think we should introduce everyone to PlaywithSix for these missions as it opens a whole lot of possibilities. I am currently building Mission 2.... now we have cut communications to the north east Delta can move in and take the airport.

But thats a whole other story. :)

I will work on the revive script... looks a bit complicated but I will give it a go.

Thanks for having me along... nice one Bootie...annoyed the game kick me out, just as things got exciting.
Septic... thanks for coming to pick me up, and getting me back in the game... thanks Vart for not shooting me...
Is there a certain way you need to rejoin the game? I tried to click the link but it said server was unavailable. Just in case it happens again. Fun while it lasted though.
