Can some one please refresh my mind on the use of Artillery on the opening turn, I think the unwritten rule was that we never used Artillery......Am I right or Wrong ????????

Usually agreement is not to use arty on enemy's set-up zone in meeting engagemenst or bombard an attackers setup zone in first turn.

Should be ok to start bombarding the defenders' positions from turn 1 -- I see no problem with that.

Don't you think the use of Arty's in the opening round spoils the game whether defending or attacking, I have just started a battle and forgot to mention no Art's in the first round, Gentleman's agreement of course, normally that is my understanding for playing the game......Thank's for the input Rico

Yo Ted! There was a thread discussing this very subject. In the end, entropy won out and the club remains without 'House Rules' because the members don't want any.
With that being said, Johnsy brought forth an idea that some, such as myself, found reasonable and worth adhering to on a voluntary basis.

CMBN Arty guidelines used by Johnsy

If defending you can't use any preplanned arty in the first turn.
If attacking you can use preplanned arty in the first turn.
In meeting engagements you can't use preplanned arty on setup zones or routes out of setup zones, but you can use preplanned arty elsewhere. You can't buy any extra arty, except that which is organic to the main force purchased, unless negotiated before the battle starts.
