We used rubber bands as well, but if you let one of the ends go by accident you could take out an entire game! I used the formed plastic counter storage things from AH, when they were still selling them.View attachment 28188

That's what me and Bart used to use. Bought 2 packs of em the first time we saw em...we were broke for weeks...but you should have seen the number of counters in SPI's War in the Pacific.

Just found this on YT and thought FGM might be interested.
I wore out the original Gettysburg game. Twice.
As an aside I just bought this for my grandsons for Christmas. Time for them to become wargamers!
This is very much like the first edition with wood pieces, which I also had. None of that plastic crap for my boys.

There is a very lively Avalon Hill group on Facebook, and virtually every AH game is available for free on Vassal. I've been playing Squad Leader, Panzer Leader, Arab-Israeli Wars, Russian Campaign recently with opponents online.
