@Coopes ... my turn for our battle isn't ready yet, but ... I don't see your email address for the dropbox invite in your info panel?

Hey guys, just a quick further clarification regarding purchasing.

Obviously, all companies participating in the battles are armored (some tank, some assault gun companies) and all units are at 100% strength.

As can be seen in the rules and the checklists threads, there is a table shown of the points that can be spent on each. We use the top line, which is 100% strength.

Armored points / Motorized infantry points

100% / 1500 pts / 1000 pts
90% / 1350 pts / 900 pts
80% / 1200 pts / 800 pts
70% / 1050 pts / 700 pts
60% / 900 pts / 600 pts
50% / 750 pts / 500 pts

The first number is 1500 purchase points, which is how much you have for armor ("Armor Only" section).
The second number is 1000 purchase points, which is how much you can spend on infantry ("Armored Infantry" section).

Note that a minimum of 50% of your armor points must be spent on the parent company,
and a minimum of 50% of infantry points must be spent on its parent company
(before any purchases are made of specialist teams or single vehicles).

Soviet tank companies must buy from Tank Battalion (Medium). Rarity zero. Only T34-76 M1942 (Late) or T34-85 M1944 (Early).
If AG, must buy Assault Gun Regiment (Medium). Rarity zero. Only SU-85 (Late).
The infantry must be Rifle Battalion 44 Motorized. Rarity zero.

Axis tank companies must buy from Panzer Battalion 44 (Early). Rarity zero. Only Pz IV H (Late).
If AG, must buy from Sturmgeschutz Brigade 44 (31 StuG). Rarity zero. Only StuG III (Mid).
The infantry must be Panzergrenadier Battalion 44A Motorized. Rarity zero.

ALL purchased units must be Regular experience level. Max Motivation: High. Max Leadership: +1

OK, my first turn (file 002, after file 001 from @Concord) is in the dropbox folder to which I've invited you.

You'll see that I've set up two sub-folders within the battle folder, one sub-folder for your turns and one sub-folder for my turns, to help (me!) track the turns and files. Hope this works OK for you.

There is now an 003 file uploaded ... but you've put it in the Coopes' turns subfolder - where I put the 002 file for you - rather than in the folder for me (PhilM's turns) ... I'm assuming that it is there for me to use?

Do you not want to use the two sub-folders?

Its only because i just set up CM helper and it just reputs where the file was dragged from. If you want me to i can just don it manually

You set up CMH to recognise / use two folders, incoming and outgoing, if you "Edit" the game that is being played ... but I don't care really, if that's what you've got it doing then just leave it.

Hey guys,

I realise that the purchasing rules and restrictions are a little unusual and slightly complicated.
Thanks for your perseverance and attention to the details.

Doing the campaign this way (using quick battles) is one of the key factors in the longevity of the campaign (avoiding GM burnout).
As time goes on, I think it will become easier for everyone, as you get used to the system.

If you have any questions, I will be able to help.
You can post questions, here, or the 'GM questions' thread, or in your private battle thread.
Many of us are in different time zones, but I will check daily.

Game on!

Maybe it's just me being a dumb truck driver but I really don't understand how the purchasing points work either.

Could you provide a few examples that we could follow as a rule of thumb?

@Concord thanks again for your patience and setting this up, you guys who run campaigns really don't get enough kudos for the amount of work you put in.

Nah, you're not dumb mate. Everyone's been wrapping their heads around it - on both sides.

What I will do is make a new thread this afternoon and make it clearer for everyone, along with some examples.

I have now re-done and uploaded my setup turn 004, following my opponent re-doing his purchase turn 003 ...

Awaiting turn 005 for the action to start.

Anyone of a queasy disposition should probably look away now ...

I know that this turn's 3 armour vs 1 battles are very one-sided contests.
Good fortunes to all and hopefully they are still entertaining for both sides.

After this turn, we'll reassess the situation and get the Allied players' decision on whether to continue the campaign as is or to start from scratch.
If we did decide to restart a fresh campaign, it would be very easy to do.

Maybe the GM can make an executive decision and issue a few companies of super secret IS-2 prototypes to the front! ;)

During my research into the operation this campaign is based upon, I don't think I came across any mention of IS tanks (although there were some ISU-122's and 152's).

However, the entire operation came to a halt in August, with the arrival of German reinforcements...including the 501st Heavy Tank Battalion which had 20 King Tigers!
Only 10 made it into action, and they were all eventually destroyed by the 6th Guards Tank Corps.

Both sides were exhausted and the operation came to a halt, with the Russians holding 120km beyond the bridgehead.
The front stabilized until 7 January 1945, when the Vistula–Oder Offensive started.

Well this is odd.
I wonder if I am having the same issue as @PhilM

I did my setup and sent file 004 to @Shorker
Shorker sent back file 005 and all my guys are bunched up on one end of the setup zone and now I have to do my set up all over again(?)
Odd indeed.

I'm in contact with Shorker and will wait to hear back from him and see what he has to say why this may have happened.
