Bizarre AA Weapon from The Vietnam War

I think a more realistic VC anti helicopter weapon is claymore mines pointed upwards to hit the landing aircraft, or triggered by using a long bamboo, so the rotor wash would set it off, with the intention of destroying a rotor, bringing the helo down. VC booby traps
