Thats a great vid. Nice post !

Of note here in NZ, the RNZAF aerobatic team the "Red Checkers" have just become operational again after a bad run of accidents in 2010, with the squadron leader killed while practicing a maneuver he hit the ground and was killed instantly. Should be good to see them flying again.

I especially liked the end where the older gentleman was sitting in the Bearcat. Brought a lump to my throat.

Why did they start with the Bearcat ? The had the Corsair as well in those days and it stayed longer in service.

Despite the Corsair being a great plane I think it was superseded by Jets, and I think the Beercats performance was far superior.

I think the Japs were lucky the Beercat was not introduced earlier.

The Bearcat was phased out rather quickly when the Corsair stayed in use....

And both the Hellcat and the Corsair were good enough, and in large enough numbers, for not needing the Bearcat.
