Hello Good Men,

The first battles in the campaign are coming to a conclusion.
For hex O8, @Shorker calculated that his 3 companies are at 90% strength.
I'd like @Wellsonian to have a go at calculating the results for his companies in P9.
Hex O9 is well advanced, but turn rate is a bit slow and some IT problems have also come up.

I'd like to thank all you guys for participation in the campaign.
Big thanks to @Panzerknacker and @Nathangun for their CO roles - been a great help.
Special mention to @PhilM and @Shorker for superb battle reports - very enjoyable.

Where do we go from here?

Several players have stated their support for a campaign restart.
I think it is a good idea too. It gives us a chance to fine tune the rules.

Also, with @Panzerknacker's masterful 'touche' attack, it looks like the Soviets have lost one third of their armour.
As @Rico pointed out, this removes much of their offensive capability very early in the campaign.

So, are you guys happy to start a fresh campaign, with a few rules changes?
Does the campaign still hold your interest, and do you have the time to participate?

Update:

The last of the battles is drawing to a close, and I have made some adjustments to the rules.

I think we are on target for a speedy restart to the campaign.
Looking forward to some crafty maneuvering and exciting battles shortly.

Hey guys, I'm considering introducing fog of war into the campaign.
It would entail more work for me, and possibly the CO's, but it might be worth it.

Units would have a visibility range of 2 or 3 hexes. No enemy units would be visible beyond that range on the campaign map.

I'm weighing up whether to do it. Do you think it would add lots of value to the campaign?

It would probably mean we'd each need to be updating our own versions of the map each and every turn - even the enemy's.
That would be something you'd need to be willing to do.

I would have the master map, and simply turn off the graphic layers that have enemy counters that you can't see.
I would then upload a jpeg to your secret forums which you would need to use as a reference to update your master maps.

Is that something you'd be willing to do?

This is a significant jump in all our 'workloads'. If it is going to be a pain in the arse, we scrap the idea.

Panzerknacker has not been online since early this week, so he may be busy with real life. I have also sent him a PM.
I'd like to get his confirmation about FOW before we begin, but @Nathangun you could start planning for the new first turn of BB Redux.

@Nathangun If we go ahead with the FOW idea, I'm thinking of making the visibility of units 2 hexes (2km).
I think that is suitable gameplay wise and realism wise.
Do you agree?
