I've steered away from this genre as my first efforts at playing one was a miserable failure.
However, it's been a loong time and thought I might stick my toe in the water again to see
how gaming things have changed and perhaps find out if I'm missing out on something.
What I need is a recommendation to maybe get me started? Would like a game that is
gorgeous to look at with a well organized UI. Some conflict should be included as not a fan
of totally peaceful builders. Not looking for an all out war game though. CIV series is excluded.

. I did wonder about FrostPunk: you have to build a steampunk city in a terrible cold environment and your population are on the brink of disaster. It seems compelling but grim.
