The A Crown of Thorns campaign covers a fictional civil war between Amalric (brother of Baldwin III, King of Jerusalem) and the young Bohemond, Prince of Antioch. It begins upon the death of Baldwin III with Amalric aspiring to succeed his brother and climb the throne of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and Bohemond refusing to pledge his allegiance, making Amalric’s first task to suppress Bohemond by force.

The name of the campaign refers to the woven crown of thorns that was placed on the head of Jesus at the time of his crucifixion in Jerusalem, and as such venerated as one of the most holy relics and, a thousand years later, a Christian symbol of the Kingship of the Holy Land.

The campaign unfolds over a series of eight year-long turns, from 1163 to 1170, as part of the conflict between two Frankish factions:
Amalric of Jerusalem and Bohemond of Antioch. Each turn is divided into a Planning Season and a Campaign Season. During Planning Season, both factions assemble their armies and place them on the map. Then, in Campaign Season, the two factions alternate conducting Operations with their armies. Players can choose from a small number of Operations each year, including March, Siege, Diplomacy, Muster, and Fleet Transport. Battles will be played out in Field of Glory II: Medieval, with the module made specifically for this campaign.

@Nathangun takes the role of
Amalric, while @kronenblatt plays as Bohemond.

1163 (turn 1) - PLANNING SEASON

Upon the start of the campaign, Amalric controls 7 Strongholds (13 Shields: Jerusalem, Hebron, Ascalon, Jaffa, Acre, Tyre, Beirut) and Bohemond 3 Strongholds (6 Shields: Antioch, Latakia, Tripoli) but Bohemond in return starts with +1 Momentum.

The two factions alternate in openly deploying armies and adding units, with one faction doing its first army's deployment and adding of units and then the other faction doing that of its first army, and so on. The Amalric faction starts in uneven years (1163, 1165, 1167, 1169) and the Bohemond faction in even years (1164, 1166, 1168, 1170). Since it's now 1163, Amalric starts.

Each faction can deploy up to two armies in any friendly Frankish Stronghold. An army can add units from those available in the Stronghold where it is located and in all friendly Strongholds (Frankish or Muslim) up to three Spaces away (as long as the path is not interrupted by hostile Strongholds).

No more than four units can be added to the army, out of which a maximum of one Military Orders unit and two Emirs units. The Royals units can only be added by their own factions (e.g., Bohemond only by the Bohemond faction).

@Nathangun : in which of your seven friendly Frankish Strongholds 1714251147444.png do you place your first army, and adding which units to it? 1714251125478.png

I'll have to ponder this, hopefully I get some plan out this evening.
